Here's the deal:

Games (and effects of games like practice) and recruit generation run using the new engine.  Everything else runs in the old engine.  They can't run at the same time.  I made the switch to run the new engine first because there are things in the old engine that are meant to run right after the games.

Also, in the new engine, everything runs one world at a time.  In the old engine things run one process (e.g. games, recruiting) at a time including all worlds.

The long-term plan is that everything will eventually move to the new engine and the old one will disappear.  At that point, everything will run world by world similar to Hardball Dynasty.  There's no way to make things run in the same sequence as they used to until everything has moved to the new engine.
Can you tell us what still runs on the old engine and why it is doing that?
And how long-term is the plan that everything will move to the new engine?

I thought the idea was to re-write all the old code to new code and then work on things? Did we not do this? What is really going on?

Seble, thanks for getting back to us and letting us know, What's Up!!. Could you move the recruiting process first like DA just mentioned so we can shut everyone up. One of the things I hate about the forums is to log in, look for useful information, and than just find and read, thread after thread, a ***** session.

Here's what runs in the new engine:  Games, rankings, practice, and recruit generation.  Everything else still runs under the old, including things like awards, inbox messages, scheduling, recruit action processing, job processing, season rollover, draft.  It generally won't take more than 30 minutes to an hour to run both, so normally everything will show up between 2 and 3 ET during game cycles.  For non-game cycles, things will happen very close to the top of the hour.

It's not possible to run parts of one engine and then parts of the other.  The have to run in their entirety, either old then new or new then old.  Since there are things in the old engine that are triggered by the completion of games, I am running the new engine first.  So things like recruiting responses may show up 30-40 minutes later than normal during game cycles.  I know that will be an adjustment, but it's the best that can be done right now.

Seble, thanks for the follow up response and here's hoping that the complete new engine completion goes quickly and smoothly

You are totally right magic. We should just accept everything seble does without hesitation. God thank you so much for enlightening me.

The best that can be done is to get recruiting working the way it should be. Do you not understand how important recruiting is and why it HAS to be on a set schedule?

Just curious.  Prior to today (or the update), the recruiting was still running on time.  The games were being delayed but the recruiting was okay.  Can you explain how that was working prior to the update?

Oh and the fact that many of us have spent hundreds and thousands of dollars on this site as well.
It's a shame that the current problems have retroactively prevented you from getting any entertainment value out of the game at all.

That is not what I said Anton. I was making the point that since we have all started playing many of the issues have either been here all along or are now back. It seems as one thing is solved 10 other things tend to pop up. Oh and some solid Customer Service / letting us know what is up would be fantastic.
You weren't making a point there beyond expressing your feeling of entitlement.

Which is to be expected, I guess. The WIS business model sort of requires customers to get invested in their teams. But the fact that you have spent thousands of dollars on this site doesn't give you license to throw tantrums.

OK, thanks for the explanation. Good to know.

Now, is there a reason that you can't run the recruit responses first, and then run the games second?

Having the recruit messages/updates come reliably is just more important, as you can see from the responses in this thread.
He answered that, sort of. "I made the switch to run the new engine first because there are things in the old engine that are meant to run right after the games." Recruit responses are old engine, not new engine.

I switched the order because things in the old engine were designed to run during a certain cycle, but were being delayed until the next cycle because they had to wait for games to finish.  For example, things generally run right after the NT finishes, but those things weren't running until later.

It's just that recruiting is the most time-sensitive feature of the site.  That needs to take priority, even if it means that games come out half an hour later than they should.
7/7/2010 1:34 PM
Games were running three hours later, cornfused, not half an hour.
7/7/2010 1:37 PM
It's not about games being later, it's about things like season wrap up emails and some other stuff not running at the intended time.  Once things are moved to the new controller, times will vary by world anyway.  So recruiting responses would happen at different times for each world.
7/7/2010 1:37 PM
After the explanation, I am fine with how things are going to work in the new update.  The recruiting is the most important thing but we are only talking about 2 cycles per day.  I'm not usually up for the middle of the night recruiting anyways.  This won't be that big of a change.  How long before everything is on the new engine?  A month, two months, a year?
