Wfudd, you're pretty much exactly opposed to general forum sentiment there.

Also, I see that you're coaching UMass-Dart in Knight!  That's my old team - I was the two muukao handles and then ghostcoached the first two seasons of rande3.  Good to see that they're still doin' OK.

Everytime I get sick of this game, the recruiting sucks me back.  Its the best part of the game by FAR and its just about perfect for me.

Especially in D1 where there are so many intelligent coaches it really makes life difficult when trying to climb the ladder.

Corn, am I reading that right and rande3 is an alias of yours?  If so, I believe we're in the same conference together in Knight.........

Sorry, it's manonde01, not rande3.  I knew it was something similar, but had to go back to check.  Nothing to see here, move along..........

how much did you have to drink for manonde01 and rande3 to be considered similar?  =)

I have never payed for an alias - so anything with multiple seasons (except for the one in, I think, Iba where my FreeHD team made it to the NT) is a FreeHD account.  In Knight, that means muukao and muuka0 (UMass-Dart), and c0rnfused (the reason Lawrence-Knight is so good) are mine.

But by coaching UMD for two seasons, I developed an interest in my recruits, and when rande3 wasn't using them the way that he should've, I sitemailed him.  He responded by giving me his password - so I co-coached for two seasons.

But nah, he's a real person.  I haven't been in Knight since season... what, 9?

EDIT: 11 or 12, it seems.  But anyway, rande3 kept going at four different DII programs and is now in DI at Sacramento St.

I like it so far.   I am curious to see what it looks like after 4-5 seasons of new recruits though.

All I will say on this matter is that Codeine rules!

You're right, dcy.  My mistake was speaking from the viewpoint of a relative newbie. I've only got 300 games under my belt, with mostly D3 teams - you've got 4000 and you've worked to build D1 and D2 powerhouses. So it's not really feasible for you to "take a break" because you'd lose much of what you've built.  My hope is the "ten seasons" timeframe means one or two seasons in studied in each world simultaneously and fixed far sooner than a year, but that's probably too optimistic.

I really hate the idea of losing the veterans. Entire worlds filled with SIMS and coaches like me would be... unpleasant. ;)

Who knows, maybe by the time your Allen season plays out things will have improved more.

i must not be able to figure out this new engine (felt i was just starting to understand the old).  because i can't comprehend how my team commits more fouls playing slowdown, take away perimeter over another team playing up-tempo, full court press.

every full court press team i play is able to enforce their will.  my PGs have multiple turnovers even though they are usually B+ or better in my offense with passing/ball handling 80+

the only thing i can see is that the opposition has better IQs but not by much.  or at least i don't consider an A drastically better than a B+ or A-
Your team is turning the ball over 12x/game, that's not a ton.

Part of the issue is that you're forcing the distro to two of your guards, so that is going to cause them to turn the ball over more, particularly against a press. You also play them heavy minutes, and they are poor athletes.

I don't really see many games where you lost to a press team that wasn't better than your team. Didn't look at every game, the only one I really noticed was Drury, but you lost that game because Drury shot 63%, not because of the press. In general, I think you need to pay closer attention to what's working and what's not working for your particular squad against press teams, rather than forcing the action a certain way with a gameplan that doesn't seem to be doing you any favors.

kspoorman - I like your example of Villanova being beaten by Saint Mary's in the real-life tournament, but a more interesting exam would have been to discuss Villanova losing to Robert Morris in the first round until the Colonials were beaten by the refs down the stretch.  If RMU beating Villanova on WIS, there are people that would have flipped out about how "unrealistic" the game is.

So maybe what  WIS needs is a nebulous "ref" function that helps push all the data back towards the norm?  I'm just kidding of course, but it's been working great for David Stern and the NBA for years.
