How do I train a player like this? Never run into this problem, but I don't know how to evenly improve on a guy with this kind of potential.

You don't need to improve him evenly. Focus on the areas that are most important first (he's a pf, obviously categories like rebounding, etc.) and then fill in the secondary categories later.

This may be a stupid question, but if I don't train his perimeter for instance...over time does that potential drop, or can I just start training it near the end of his junior season when he's capped on something important?

The potential doesn't drop -- he'll still be able to reach the same level.

One more question pertaining to this player - I plan on redshirting him. Do I need to allocate any study hall minutes seeing as it doesn't matter whether or not he's eligible?

Yes you need to keep his GPA up. Even though it doesn't matter if he is eligible this season, he needs a combined overall GPA of above 2.0 to remain eligible in the future. So if it is bad now, it will take more to get the overall up above 2.0 later.

Something like 20 in cond, reb, lp, like 7-14 in footwork depending on what def you run and then 10-15 into FT - whatever is left over. Once they start maxing out go for more into fw. I wouldn't even worry about his bh/per.

How are you able to determine his potential?  All I have ever seen is Ratings and IQ in various offenses and defenses.

You can buy his state thru FSS or read the AC email that comes during exhibition.

Scouting trips will give you potential as well.
