LBJ will never win an NBA championship Topic

From what I've seen, Bosh was the linchpin. Wade was completely torn between Chicago and Miami until Bosh went ahead and agreed to go south.
Everything I've heard (and I'm talking about pretty good sources -- one friend is an espn radio host in Miami, another was the Miami Heat beat writer; and I live in Chicago and have some pretty good sources here) is that Wade never really considered leaving. And there is even a fairly decent-sized contingent that thinks he was simply spying for Riley.

mark my words
20,000 k that before Lebron retires he wins a championship. He hasn't had another superstar around him until now and he still lead the Cavs to big win totals. Plus being only 25 gives him 15 mores years possibly to win one or more championship.

Everyone outside S. FL is going to be a hater. I get it. Let's not forget the Heat was more vunerable than anyone  this offseason. The were in a position to end up with nothing.  So if other fans don't like it, so be it. Any city would have tried to land this group if they could of. Including the Cavs. I don't know if LBJ will win titles or not, but, I think he has a better shot now than before.

I don't blame them for trying,. but I wish there was a way to set things up so it wouldn't be hanging out there as a temptation.

7/11/2010 7:19 PM
So that what isn't hanging out there? Playing with the best team mates you can? Controlling your future when you're a free agent?

If they allow teams to do the same thing.  Teams do it, its collusion, players do, its fine.  if its fine for players. . it should be fine for teams as well.

Collusion? Free agents aka (on the market not tied to anyone) trying to do better than where they are now. Dwayne Wade for president, he made this happen with the oh, i think i may go back home play in my home town! He was calling Pat Riley and giving Bosh and James updates every 2 hours laughing at what was going down.  Face it men, when the superstars have the chance, they will jump from Cleveland and Toronto to play with high profile players in high profile cities. Really thought Lebron would be in Chicago...oh well....Go Heat!

Uh, no. You don't know what you're talking about.

There is a way of controlling that. It's called a salary cap. A team must clear aout a roster to pull this off. Riley has also been planning this for several years. The thing is most teams can't/or won't risk it.

I have heard the same dalt. Basically that the 2nd meeting with Chicago was planned well beforehand by Wade. I don't think he ever even considered leaving South Beach either.

No way. You're not even close with that thought.

Z, I think they're making a comparison between him and Jordan less as specifically the type of players they are/were, and more as far as attitude, competitiveness, killer instict etc.

Jordan was second-to-none in those attributes, and I think it's fair to say that LeBron doesn't measure up to him in that area.

That said, how can we really speculate what Magic/MJ/Bird, etc. would've done in this situation. They were never offered this type of situation, and I'm not so sure it speaks so negatively about Bron that he opted for the outlet that gave him a better opportunity to win titles.

Dalt I get why people want to compare him to Jordan, because they want him to be Jordan. The thing is he never has been close and doesn't have the same game Jordan did at all. People will never stop trying to make LeBron the next Jordan but I think this move shows more then anything that he knows he isn't Jordan and I don't see what is so wrong with that.

Pat Riley had a plan. He was very quite during the whole sham that was Dwade going to Chicago twice. Signed Miller and now possibly Fischer to "help" out. He is a freaking genius! If Spoelstra can't cut the mustard, Riley will be coaching by quickly, ask Van Gundy!  Listen, the only thing that happened here is that the media frenzy made everyone crazy. It's a business and you know there is no loyalty any longer in any sport and its all about winning and cash! Can you fault 2 superstars and oh sorry a very good Bosh wanting to play on the same team in South Beach? NOPE!!!! Go Heat!!!!
Rumor has it Pat Riley sold his soul to the devil.

Not sure how many have/haven't read this article from Sports Guy on ESPN. Figured I'd share the link. http://es.pn/dCAC07

Also, here is a good article about how the 'No FL state income tax' law isn't quite what it's talked up to be - http://bit.ly/aTm5IY

And lastly an article about the Multi-Year process that this was for Wade, Bosh and James. Dating back to the 2006 World Championships in Japan. http://bit.ly/acMiL9
