Ridiculous scoring margin -- new engine Topic

I know many have complained about the new engine.  There are times where the new script is ridiculous (for example, a point guard gets a rebound and then gets a 10 second call -- this has happened multiple times in the same game and I never remember this happening in a game before), but I can live with that.  There are lots of other beefs.

My most recent complaint about realism is scoring margin.  Granted, I am playing FB/Press, but still.  Take a look at my Wisconsin team in Tark.

We are 12-7 with an RPI of 62.  No problem there -- that is probably about what I'd expect.  But look at the scores of the games.  None were really close.  In fact, the average margin of victory (or loss, of course) for my games is 29.7 points.  This is for a 12-7 team.

Am I crazy?  Or does this seem ridiculous (these aren't mutually exclusive, but you know what I mean).  I know I played a schedule with a wide variety of RPI, but still.  Never seen anything quite like it, and, to me, it is not realistic in the slightest.

I think it's fairly safe to say that the engine still needs a bit of work (damn, hope I don't get myself banned for that).

Little bit of an update -- it is not getting better.   I think it is getting worse.  And the home court advantage seems like a primary factor:

Last 4 games  (I'm Wisconsin, Tark, 16-10 with a RPI of 51:

Illinois (RPI = 27)  = win by 36
@ Northwestern (RPI=38) = lose by 32
Ohio St. (RPI = 71) = win by 20
@ Michigan (RPI = 45) = lose by 53

These opponents are all about the same, really.  Not one game close, and actually the Michigan game is nuts.  In fact, I bet that few actual Big 10 games ended up with this big a scoring margin.  And this is between two teams whose RPI were within 6 of each other.

I wonder if it's just a DI issue. I'm not seeing that at all in my DII and DIII teams.  Just looking at one of  my DIII teams, currently 12-10.   My average win margin is 15 ppg; my losses are by 10 ppg

It is just a DI issue because of the slightly over-weighed HCA. In real life, it does give a big advantage, but WIS needs to make it fluctuate less. In real life, some courts are just louder and that doesn't change often unless you see a huge change in the program's performance as a whole.

In real life, only a handful of team are "A's" in HCA. It amazes me when you see teams with weak schedules and poor postseason performance having home courts that are A's, sometimes even A+'s. It wouldn't bother me as much if the grades were just overall toned down and didn't reset after each season.

I see all of these issues and realize there must be problems, I just don't see them in my games. I coach Colgate, in Naismith, and couldn't ask for more.
I run a FCP and avg. more fouls than I ever have, but it doesn't seem un-realistic. The first 5 games of the season I had 17 to 24 fouls per game in 4, 31 fouls in the other game. By the 1st 5 conf. games we settled down a little with 2 games at 17 fls. and the other 3 from 22-26. The last 5 conf. games I commited 12, 18, 20, 24 & 21 fouls. My IQ's are strong, all but 1 player in the A's, but I had 4-5 B+'s to start the season. It's pretty clear that as my IQ's have improved my pf's have slowed down some.
Again, keep in mind I run a FCP, play motion/uptempo offense and am leading the nation in scoring at a little over 98 ppg, so I'm definately not playing to "not foul".
As far as win/loss margin, granted, I've had some lopsided wins, but my 2 losses were 101-98 & 95-92, hardley blowouts!

Over in the BE we didn't really see much of this, this season. Last season we saw a bunch of it. For example in my last 2 games I lost at home to Rutgers by 15 and then went on the road and beat them by 10. I also beat Pitt on the road but lost at home to them. My only really bad game in conference was when I lost to Syracuse by 50. However there was 1 game where I think it was Villanova went on the road and beat a better Louisville team by 45, that is by far the oddest result.

HCA is still too extreme. There shouldn't be that many A+ HCA teams. I have also noticed a ton of offensive rebounds of missed FTs. That doesn't happen much IRL and didn't in the last engine. Let the tweaking continue.
