How many ineligibles? Topic

Since I have played in just over 100 seasons, you would think I would know the answer to this question: how many ineligible players can a team sign? (Knowing, of course, they may not all show up.) Has anyone signed more than 1 per season? I never have tried.

I don't think there is a limit. I've signed 3 out of 6 one season, but that was in div III so it wasn't a huge deal. In div II the most I signed was 2 and one showed up, the other went juco.

Thanks, furry. With six guys needed and only one senior, a couple might be a good thing.

What are the odds that they actually show up? Is it 50/50?

My understanding is that in D1 or D2, only one ineligible will show up.  You can sign as many as you want, but all but one will go JUCO.

I read this long ago, and won't say it is 100% certain, but I have seen 3-4 teams sign multiple inel. in D1, and every time only one shows up.

For one signing, I'd say the odds of them showing up is significantly better than 50/50.

I think it is generally believed that spending more in recruiting increases the chances they will show, but there is a big random factor regardless of what you spend.

Ok thanks, do you know if prestige plays a role in all this? As in, the higher the prestige, the higher the chances of showing up?

I'm sure it does, if only because prestige multiplies recruiting effort, but I don't know how much.

I've actually had very good luck getting inels to report, but I know some other who have sworn them off entirely.

One thing to remember is if they do go juco, 25% of your recruiting effort carries over to next season.  So even if they don't show up you still have a decent chance of signing them next season (unless they move across the country).

I just signed 2 ineligibles in Tark.  Hopefully at least one of them shows up.
