Tell me why he isn't all American? Topic

Don't know if you read the numbers but In knight my player outscored and out rebounded every center on the all American d1 team. So is it because we got eliminated in the first round? First nt in over 10 years for the school. I just don't understand how he gets overlooked? I thought the draft was about the ratings and the all americans were about the numbers.

Maybe the turnovers and the relatively low BLK and AST numbers?  Just a minor correction - the first team All-American averaged 18.9 PPG.  But he also had just slightly more blocks - 1.4 - and even more turnovers.  And your guy got more than a rebound per game more.  My best guess would be that they use the statistics tempered to some extent by strength of schedule, so since yours was pretty mediocre they figure your guy put up better stats but did it against inferior competition.

without seeing the other guy's stats, I'm going to go out on a limb and guess shooting %.

Being unranked and having a lowish RPI is the reason.  I honestly think that has too much of impact on the postseason awards.

Okay I was guessing it. I did mess up with the ppg for the first guy but the second two I did score more than. Also I would take 18.1 and basically 50% over 14 points and 56% percent. Otherwise you could say 10 points and 75% is even better. I just think a field goal percentage of over 42 is fine and it's ppg after that.

Oh well not that mad just had hoped for the awards. He was my star recruit the first year I took over the team.

I'd say for a Center, a FG% has to be above 48% to be considered an all-american.  Lower than that plain sucks for a post player.  And if you played weak competition that matters a lot.

ten points a game, with a good amount of rebounds and a 75% shooting percentage?  That woudl be a rather good player to have.

i agree, i'd rather have the guy with 10ppg shooting 75% than a guy scoring 18ppg shooting 42%

When is e last time you would call a guy a star on 10 ppg? Y would be asking him to shoot more hence his fg% would go down more than likely.

whens the last time you would call a guy a star on 49% shooting? you would be asking him to shoot less hence his points would go down most likely.

As a center 49% isn't that good.  As a PG or SG, its very very good.

In this scenario, though, it's worth pointing out for schroedess that the first-team AA actually shot just under 48%, worse than his own guy who didn't make the top 6 cut.
