LOL at "a couple" seasons.

And I agree that this is handled badly. Every coach should be applying at the same time. Inactive coaches should not be able to get an early claim.

How many times to girt and others have to repeat this???

Inactive coaches DO NOT get to aplly at the same time ....they must wait until AFTER everyone else has appllied for their job. Inactive coaches get to pick from what's left over. How is that any advantage???

Jesus ..is this that frigging hard to understand?

They don't have to wait until everyone else has applied. Not sure how that canard got started. They can apply during the regular jobs period. UNC in Allen filled just that way a few seasons back. By girt, as it happens.

Edit: Though he may have had to wait until the jobs period was over until he could apply. If that's the case, disregard what I just said :)

no you were actually right about that, i misunderstood and deleted my post

but they can't reserve a job that hasn't already gone vacant

If the school is being run by a sim DURING the season, an inactive coach can sign up and reserve that team at any point during that sim season.  That's the inactive advantage.  That's the position Michigan State/Iba was in.

Carolina/Allen had a human coach during the season.

If I'm a coach that is on the verge of getting my dream job and then I find out that I would have qualified for it, but can't get it, because a coach who hasn't played in a few seasons reserved that team, then I probably am not thrilled and will wind up not playing.

New coach comes in and hasn't played on the new engine and doesn't like it or doesn't have the success with recruiting, because that has changed as well, and that user quits.  You now have lost 2 coaches, when you could have kept both if you would apply the same rules to everyone.

If a user really wants to plunk down the $12.95, they are going to do so whether it is right then and there or they wait a week or two.  If they don't want to wait, then they didn't want to play that bad to begin with.

I'd rather keep a current customer happy than a customer that comes and goes.  The current, loyal customer will always spend more in the long run.
Fail.

If you've waited this long for your dream DI job, you'll wait a couple of seasons more to see whether the incoming coach craps out.

If it wasn't reserved and you applied but lost out to another coach, would you quit then? Somehow I doubt it.
I seriously hope you are a greasy, pimple-faced, puberty-ridden teenager spending your Summer break playing World of Warcraft if you use the word "Fail" as a full sentence.  Yet, I doubt you are, which is just unfortunate for you.

If I have spent seasons trying to get to my dream job and I can't get it, because someone reserved it, I probably won't wait a "couple" seasons, which is really 4-6 by the time a coach is fired.

You are right, if the job was open and I had my fair shot at the job and didn't get it, I wouldn't quit, because I would have had an equal shot at it!

thats the thing, you had a shot at it before the past season started and he didnt

ding ding ding ding

edit - well, not exactly, he had a shot too - after you. so its like, you get the first shot, he gets the second shot, and you get the third, and he gets the fourth, and so on. i fail to see the problem here.

think if it like youre a returning coach. you can't get the jobs that anyone wants. so, you get your choice of the jobs nobody wants. that kind of sucks, but you can live with it.

so what are you guys proposing? should we not only take away all the jobs anyone else wants - but also, take a poll to see what jobs somebody may happen to want in the future, and not let them have those either? i mean seriously. "you want to re-join the world? here, take this permission slip. get it signed by every human coach in the entire world. then, submit it along with a bottle of cambodian breast milk.... mmmm, 100% cambodian"

I don't understand the issue.  If the team became SimAI, 99% of the time you had a chance to apply for the job when it came open.  The only case I can think of is if the coach got another job in the last job cycle.  So you waited a full season, then wanted to apply for the job then?
