How much will this stunt his growth?  The guy has high potential in several excellent core ratings but a WE of 1.  He's got good ratings in the categories already so I'm not sure how worried about it I am.

Well, I don't know the answer, but I just recruited this DIII Center:

Potential
  Current
Rating
Potential     Current
Rating
Potential
Athleticism 30 Average   Perimeter 1 Low
Speed 8 Low   Ball Handling 1 High
Rebounding 77 High   Passing 1 Average
Defense 21 High   Stamina 67 Average
Shot Blocking 76 High   Durability 39 Average
Low-post 76 High   FT Shooting   Average

Here was my thinking ... 77, 76, 76 whether he grows or not.  I know you can grow WE by giving Fr. players some playing time ... maybe I can grow his WE by playing him a lot if he performs well as a Fr.

I should know more about this type of player after this season.

If I can grow his WE to 15-20 by the time he is a Sr., he might be OK (he needs some ATH, Defense, and Passing ... all of which I should be able to grow if I can get his WE up).

If I can not get his WE up, he should be a decent rebounder and scorer at Div III with 70's in cores for a Center anyway.

Or, maybe I am crazy and he will suck (I'll know soon enough :D)

expect damn near all your throughout the season advances to vanish in the off season as the lazy bastard sits on the couch watching Springer all afternoon...

If you think he can contribute with his current stats, go ahead and take him, but if you are looking for growth you aren't going to see a lot of it.

**Hughes, if he graduates with a PAS rating over 5 I'd be shocked...

There is no way he'd  grow his WE that much. IIRC, they gain 1 maybe 2 points in WE. They generally go up 1-4 points per season, and then lose all/most of it in the off season. Also, his IQ will suck too. Should max out around B+, possibly A- depending where he started and how much minutes you give toward O/D

I thought IQ growth was based on high school GDP, not WE.

How does the economy affect WE?
8/30/2010 9:57 AM
IQ growth is a combo of high school gpa, Work Ethic, playing time/starts

I've recruited a couple of these guys.  Overall, you're not going to see more than a 10-point increase.  His WE won't be anywhere near 15 if he starts at 1.  If you recruit a guy with a 1 WE, you need to be comfortable with his ratings where they are, and know that he can contribute with those ratings.  That said, I have had two very important role players on D3 teams with 1 WE.

Semi-related recruiting question, how do I see how far a competing school is from a recruit?
8/30/2010 12:07 PM
you could just google map it.

You just go to that school's recruiting tab and it will show how far that school is from every recruit they have considering them. Unless you are asking how can you figure it out if they aren't being considered by the recruit and you want to know just in case they go after them, then google maps is your best bet as was said.

I google mapped it but thanks, I was looking at a school that someone was considering

Nope, its mostly WE. I don't think I've ever had a guy under 10 WE get A+ IQ before
8/30/2010 1:39 PM
With a WE under 10, how much drop off can you expect in the off season?
8/30/2010 5:23 PM
My guys gained 2-5 depending on potential/points, and generally lost about 25% of it each season. It wasn't to horrible. The biggest part was that maxed out areas at 5 would drop 1-3 per season so it requires more to maintain areas.
