I promised a player FR start in order to sign him. In the exhibition, I noticed he is player too many minutes. Is the appropriate way to shut down his minutes to use playing time via "Target Minutes" and just give him 4-8. If I do this, will the rest of my team still substitute by some kind of fatigue based system or is it just play 20min, come out for the rest of the game?

it has been ages since I used target minutes, but you can use target minutes to get a starts with lowish minutes

you will then need to set target minutes for each of your players, keeping in mind their stamina and how good they are

they will rotate based on the extent to which they get tired, but the rotation will be managed to get the minutes in the specified range

What else can I do beside using target minutes? Somehow my FR C with 58 stamina played 21min last game despite being set to Fairly Fresh, conservative fouls.

Metsmax has it.  If you use target minutes, you have to set it for everyone.

You have to suck it up. You cannot promise a start and then hold him under 15 mins a game.

If you are not willin to do that then don't give out the promise.

Is that a rule, he must get 15min/game? What if I set him to start on the depth chart, with target minutes 4-8?

I think mully means that IF you go with fatigue and not target mins you cant really keep a starter under 15 ish

by the way, it isnt all that bad to do target mins - you can guestimate how many mins you want guys to do and then adjust - for many seasons the only way to go was trarget mins and then a couple years ago they added the fatigue optiion, which folks think is better.....too long ago for me to have a view

one thing you could do - run with fatigue settings for a couple games and then take inspiration from how the mins broke down in setting your target mins

the big problem with minutes is the engine tends to try to get them regardless of fatigue at the time, so your players may (may) run into issues where they are on the court more fatigued than you would want. Fatigued players perform pretty shittily from what I understand...

If you think the frosh playing 15 a game is hurting your team more than playing some players at elevated fatigue levels would, do it - if you are sure, try it, scrutinize the pbp and adjust - and report back, I'd like to know the outcome...

Even with target minutes you cannot have a starter only go 4-8 mins.  They will still play as if they were set at 14-18

Frost playing 15min isn't the problem; it's they somehow played 20+ minutes while I have much better upperclassmen playing less than 20min. I'm going to run the minute target system and use my past seasons mpg and the mpg they have played so far this season to set up a target. Gonna test it out for 5 games to see how it goes.

Under Fatigue, not Target Minutes, just set him to "mopup" and he'll only get like 4 to 8 minutes, maybe only 2.

Sorry, wait that won't work if you have to start him. Instead set his Fatigue Factor to "Fairly Fresh" (first level) and his backup to "Tired" (level 3). That ought to compensate it for you.
