I am at Siena(Metro). Nebraska(Big 12) is a possibility for me. Simmy says to keep looking. Are Siena and Nebraska pretty even base prestige? I was considering it because I thought recruiting would be easier. I should have another successful year, so I can wait. Should recruiting be easier at Nebraska?

There is a list somewhere with all the baseline prestiges, but I'm too lazy to look right now to try to find it.  That being said, I can't imagine that Siena would have the same baseline prestige as a BCS school..........

Right. Simmy says I am a longshot, but that the move would be lateral anyway. That is a little confusing.

I believe all teams in the Metro have a baseline prestige of D and Nebraska has a baseline prestige of B-.

Indirectly ... the vast, vast majority of the time that you apply for a longshot job, you get the instant rejection the very next cycle. That's the real hurdle, and it's not impacted by whether anyone else applies.

However, if you don't get the instant rejection, it means that you're in consideration for the job. And then of course it would be yours if no one else applied.

I see. And if I apply and get rejected, it hurts my reputation which influences my recruiting, current job, and future job applications.

The effect is tiny, I would not let that discourage you whatsoever. If you applied for four jobs it's possible you might see it reflected in your loyalty rating, but perhaps not even then (i.e. the movement would be so small that it wouldn't change the letter grade). This is a non-factor and I wouldn't even consider it when deciding whether or not to apply.
