Please define, "I think there has been pretty much a consensus..."

I have seen a lot of forum posts complaining about mid-major recruits in DI.  I am not at a mid-major currently so I have not seen it.  But, I have not seen anyone come out and say they think the recruit generation is working properly at DI.

I actually think it's fine. I've said it before, I think people got stuck in a pattern of looking for a certain type of recruit and now can't adjust. I've posted examples of guys I've gotten on my D2 Bryant team, this guy for example: http://whatifsports.com/hd/PlayerProfile/Ratings.aspx?tid=0&pid=1597796 . If I can get this guy at a D2 school there has to be players a level better who can excelt at a mid major. I also have several others that I have gotten under the new engine who would do well in D1.

That's why this game needs a big marketing push, if new players came into the game these recruits would be the norm for them. The fact that in general people don't like change, this is a huge change from how recruits originally looked a lot of the old guard can't/refuses to adjust their opinions on recruit and thus we get tons of complaining. I'm pretty sure Sully that you are in the same boat as me that you think the new recruits are fine, I just wish more people were able to look at the recruits with an open mind.

I really havent noticed as I'm not in D2 or D3 and I'm not at a mid-major.  There is definitely a dropoff between the top guys and everyone else.  I think this is the first full "new engine" players in Tark this year so I guess we'll really see.  I've just heard a lot of complaining about mid-majors and I'm not sure if it is a legit complaint or if everyone just needs to get used to the new types of players.  I guess I was just wondering if Seble was completely happy with how the recruits are these days.

We get it Nam, you don't want to be lumped in with the "majority", or "general consensus"................think you made that abundantly clear the first three or four times you stated your position on the matter.........

thanks for listening emy.  the language of this one was just killing me though so i had to post.  I mean "think" and "pretty much" combined with consensus was just to much to take.

Hey, sorry about that earlier Nam, I was working on about 36 hours without sleep when I posted.  I do think that it's a bit much to say that it's a consensus opinion of coaches, blah, blah, blah, when it's usually only about a dozen, at most, of the more VOCAL coaches whose opinions are somehow used to form said "consensus".  Methinks that if EVERY coach who has a team HAD to give an honest opinion, the consensus wouldn't be nearly as clear cut as it's portrayed...........

what is the consensus fix for the issue?

Not a consensus fix, but my opinion is changing d1 recruit generation even slightly up in the 10 to 30/50/75  position rank range would appear to satisfy many of the current rash of complaints I would think?  or not?

Just to explain, not return to where the d1 recruits were, but to maybe split (halve) the difference in ratings and potential (red potential is a turn off*) from the old way to the new way probably would end the misery for many of those coaches wondering why bother with d1?

I just got done looking for jobs in world 3, the WCC, CUSA, and horizon league all have right around 8 openings, so many reasonably minded d1 coaches have made their opinions clear, not on these forums, but with their credit cards - LOL

I wonder how many vets would return at this point however, I think a combination of game fatigue, the FSS fiasco 2 years ago, and now this has many of the oldest vets out for good - hence the largest consensus for the best fix for the game in general is a marketing campaign to bring in new blood.

* - even those liking the new system often point to how many 'fun' low rated high potential guys are out there, I recruit all the time, I see them too, but I also am a pretty good recruiter and have to say such players are not exactly easy to find, why not make the game 'fun' for more than just a few of the highly skilled coaches with the time and expertise to find such 'fun' recruits

Yeah, I am waiting in Allen until the entire crop of "old engine" recruits is gone.  The reduction in recruit quality isn' just weakening CUSA teams.  My Florida team is a B prestige SEC team that isn't going to be able to recruit players as good as the ones that are leaving.  So almost everyone is going to get worse.

I think the way to win as a mid-major is recruiting those 'fun' high potential guys, red-shirting them, getting them to be juniors and seniors in a bunch and having a good run.  Just like real world.  (unless you are Memphis)

I think that this is exactly what the new engine is built for.... No one has giving this a chance yet. Wati 4 or 5 seasons to adjust and it will be fine. At this point, I dont like it either, but I'm willing to wait out 4 or 5 season's to see how this plays out...

I don't see a problem with it. I'd love to have 80% of the guys I sign on my div II team on a low end div I school, plus I'm sure I could land a guy or 2 who is even better when I have all that left over money due to signing these div II guys for dirt cheap. I'd just go zone, and have a 3 man team playing 30 mins per guy each scoring 11-17 a game and then the rest just be role players. You could also even take a walk on or 2 running zone and won't be hurting to bad stamina wise so you have over 50k+ to throw on a pretty good gem. I've ran 8 deep before to the final 4 so walk ons and such won't kill you.

Let's just say there are a ton of new openings at non-Elite BCS and mid-majors across the few worlds I have left...the problem in Knight (and I am guessing Phelan) will sort itself out soon enough as more coaches drop down to D2/D3 or retire :(

For the D2/D3 lifers, go ahead and jump up to a mid-major, try it for a recruiting season on a crowded world and you will see what OR has been saying (amongst  many others, including myself) say "Wow, this sucks, I'm going back to D2(D3)." and drop back down...

then again it will probably be hard to find a crowded world soon, given the recent exodus of D1 coaches. Of course in 6 months or a year when the D1 programs that have been let go are filled again by the next round of suckers, this problem will reappear...

Does anyone else have the feeling that WIS/FOX is just not making enough money on Hoops Dynasty anymore and are not giving Seble enough resources and just milking it for what they can get? Would go a long way towards explaining all the little things that have been going wrong like games not simming, worlds not rolling over, offseasons being run multiple times, and the replaying games fiasco?

When the player base cares more about the game than the game company, it's waaaayyyy past time to move on. My only question is to where? :(
