wednesday morning and the overnight games didnt Topic

for the millionth time - why the heck is recruiting dependent on game sim completion? there is no logical dependency. its a ripple effect, that is not doing anybody any favors.

also, it was definitely wednesday last time (unless there is one i missed), and im pretty sure it was the time before that too. i feel like people were making comments about wednesdays a month ago so possibly a few times before that was wednesday too. seems strange that it would be related to the day of the week though, any cron jobs run on wednesday's only? maybe a backup script? nothing we see rings a bell...

I'm pretty sure seble told us at one point that the "old engine" things like recruiting also still govern player development (with some rate-depressing modifications I guess?).  If that's the case then it's pretty important that it not run until after the games have simmed.  If I'm misremembering that then I don't know why the one should depend on the other.  It should be possible to split the old engine things up to run separately in either case...

So it's happening and it's not Wednesday... Shocking!  I can barely believe it...

and they didn't run this morning either. so it's not just Wednesdays. This is beginning to happen way to frequently.

Geez, first they take away our titties from the PIT, and now we can't get our games simmed.  What's left for us on this site?

Well the fact remains that not only does the game itself need a lot of fine tuning but the people in charge of this division need to seriously look at whoever is in charge.  The game can be a lot of fun but come on   things need to be addressed and corrected not just fix the problem after the fact.

methods to handle this issue

1. find and fix the glitch that keeps hanging up the game in mid-SIM

2.  have someone on the staff of WIS log onto the forums between 3:00 and 5:00 a.m. and see the inevitable postings so that whoever can push the reset button can do so

3.  give an intern at FoxSports a free HD subscription, have him play, become interested in the game and thereby notice when it has not run

4. pick one or two users who play and are not cretins and ask them to email someone when worlds have not run

5.  if not already in place, develop the ability to push the reset button remotely - without physical presence at whatever facility they use

so whats stopped in midstream this night

a. sweet 16 in Knight - and the window for game planning for the elite 8, if one gets there, is shrinking

b. its a Sunday

c.  morning of last day of recruiting in Phelan and Rupp - my teams are done, but some are in battles

d.  at least some other worlds simply did not have games run

Metsmax, those are all logical solutions, yet many months into the problem and none of them have been implemented. The only obvious answer is they don't care as much as their soon-to-be-ex-customers.
