update - 3 of Sweet 16 in Crum....doesnt seem bad to me

Details like this seem meaningless to me unless your ONLY point is to make HD mimic real life.  Is that the ultimate goal?  It seems to me that it is for some people and for the powers that direct HD.

But really the question that sould be asked each time - Does this change make the game more or less enjoyable and entertaining for the people we are trying to reach?

the only reason i posted is to gauge the new recruit situation and for those who said non-bcs/mid-major programs couldn't compete with the new recruits.  its just information.  and yes, it was Crum.

I'm about to win an NC in Naimsith.... so rack that up for the mid-majors.

I've pointed this out before.... hd should mimic rl 100% on coaching experiences. Ie if I coach at duke I get the glory, easier access to top recruits, tough acc schedule, etc. If I coach at a mid-major I get the challenge of not automatically getting the glory of a duke, trying to build a reputation that can get me some top talent, and try like hell to be like a rl zaga. If I am at low-Di I should have to try like hell to win a nt game... and the only way I'm probably getting there is by winning the ct..... but I can easily dominate my conf in low-Di.

On the flipside.... hd should not mimic rl #s of a schools success to win it all.... such as no non-bcs schools have won a nc since unlv in 1990. Right now I think hd his hit the nail on the head. Schools like Delaware can win it all.... and there are definitely mirrors to rl coaching xp.

Moy - What you say makes sense if someone is just looking for a simulation of college basketball.  Are you sure there's enough people who want to play an online version of that if they have no way of coaching one of the few elites in each world?

Personally, I don't think an online game can be successful long term if the best 95% of the players can hope for even if they do everything right is to always be a second class citizen of the world.  A challenge is appealing to many but only to a certain point.  After that point it becomes frustrating and eventually you wonder why you bother.

I didn't start Rupp until season 8 and I'm still at u of I as its 3rd coach. My dream school of ucla has had 4 coaches now. I think you are jaded if you think anyone that starts in season 40+ stands no chance of getting to an elite. Actually what's crazy is how coaches start to fall in love with schools other than the ones they originally set out to get to.

As a side.... the last 2 seasons in Rupp have had runner up nc teams of ucf and loyala marymont. I'm not sure if you consider them second class citizens or not. Shrug.

A second class citizen is a school that will FOREVER be recruiting at a disadvantage due to baseline prestige.  In the past, it sucked to be at the disadvantage but what you could get wasn't all that bad from what the big boys were pulling in.  It was a minor annoyance but with enough effort you felt you could overcome it so you could live with the way the system worked.

You tell me what those schools prestige has moved to.  Did it jump up to an A like the elites?  Probably didn't get above an A- but after one good season, I wouldn't expect everyone to jump to elite.  Will it jump up if they do that EVERY SINGLE SEASON?  We both know the answer to that one.  No matter what they do, they will never get to the point where they can recruit on an equal basis with the elites.  That sounds like a second class program to me.  Not sure how you can see it any other way.

I didn't say a single coach can't get to an elite.  I said 95% of them won't ever have the chance.  Numbers alone make that a fact.  See the first paragraph for why that's important in the current system.
