6 Frosh limit, can i recruit 8 and redshirt 2? Topic

If you sign a freshman and redshirt him, can you still have 6 other freshmen on your team or does he count against you this year as a freshman and next year.  I have to recruit 11 players, so I've been trying to find out if I can only sign 6 freshmen and the rest have to be juco/transfers or if i can sign 8 and redshirt 2.  Not having any luck finding an answer on my own.  Appreciate the help guys.  Dave

No. You can recruit 8 but 2 would have to be something other than freshmen.

You can only sign 6 Freshman.  

You can end up with more that 6 players in a class if you sign 6 freshman and then redshirt a sophomore, for example, but you can only sign 6 frosh.
Your other 5 must be JUCOs or transfers (or you can take a couple of walkons and recruit next season).

Thanks guys...not the answer I was hoping for, but at least I know what I have to do.  That really screws up Redshirting all together, since any redshirt will take away another frosh recruit spot next season.  Oh well, thanks again guys

You can only redshirt one player/season. If you redshirted a freshman last season, he counts toward your 6 freshman limit this season.

If you have 8 scholarships, take some JUCO and transfer players. You wouldn't want 8 FR on the court anyway as your team won't be competitive with that many frosh.

I'm sure this is a rebuilding project as he has a total of one player returning from last season.

Thanks guys...yeah, haven't played for a while and felt adventurous...figured recruiting 11 players on a budget would be a good way to build a program from the ground up....think it may be a mid-life crisis thing as I'm turning 50 next week and apparently thought this would get my fix for a pleasure/pain adventure.  Silly me
