I know that it will cost you less money to have a home visit but how else can recruiting close to home help you?

That is about it.  But its a big deal.  paying 320 for a home visit is worth (to the recruit) just as much as a $760 home visit.

If you can sign several good players close to home for relatively cheap due to the distance advantage, it gives you the flexibility to go after a big fish elsewhere with the money you save.

Additionally, its not just home visits that are cheaper when close, also scouting trips.  Important.

Very very important.  Especially if you are trying to pull a guy down.

also, if the guy is within 70 miles, you can recruit better players, and get a bonus to all recruiting actions

It's also easier to recruit guys who prefer to stay close to home. You can use FSS to see which guys want to stay closer to home.

Really, I was not aware of this bonus. Is this only for players that prefer to stay close to home? If not, then how significant is the impact?

nachopuzzle, that bonus predates FSS, so i am not sure if close to home plays an impact.  The way it was explained to me is that players within 70 miles may be open to being recruited by a lesser program faster.
