LP 9 & 'sky's the limit' Topic

What could I expect from a D2 freshman with a LP of 9 but a 'skys the limit' high/high comment?

I had a player with 17 LP and 43 work ethic make it up to 81 by the end of his senior year.

The growth will be 30+ as long as the work ethic and practice minutes will allow.

Depends on WE and playing time and how high exactly the ceiling is (which is unknowable).  If the guy has a cap of 99 he will improve faster than if it is a cap of 40.

In any case the initial gains will be slowed by the rating being low.

Sky's the limit isn't the same for all players, for some it's just that and they will keep improving until they reach 100 and others will max out. I have a guy on my WVU team that had sky's the limit and has capped in the high 60s after beginning in the 30s, I had another guy on that team last season who began at 24LP and graduated with 78LP and was still improving. Currently on my Bryant team I have a guy that began his career at 33 and 10 games into his junior season he's already up to 86 and began this season with high potential so will end his career anywhere from 98-100. It depends on your guys WE, if it's high like the player I have on Bryant and you RS him you could see that 9 climb into the 80s or maybe even the 90s. Or he could be like my guy on WVU and only get into the 40s.

when was this?

i have had similar players. but in the new engine, and actually in seble's main potential fix patch, i think the high/high was capped. not sure exactly where (i know, that is ridiculous, i honestly have no idea how i haven't figured that out yet). but i am thinking maybe 40?

all high/high potential categories guarantee at least 28 points of improvement to the capped message. it could be more. with your guys work ethic and low starting ratings, he very possibly may never hit his potential.

Yeah, I highly doubt that was recent.

When was this hi/hi patch supposedly put in place? Like I said I have a current junior (no redshirt) who has gone up 53 in LP and is still improving.

would have been a while ago. if the cap was not removed, then the frequency must have went down a lot. 53 huh, good to know :) if you don't mind, let me know how far up he lands as a senior!

I have a RS sophomore in Crum.  Began LP = 39 with WE = 49.  Now halfway through 3rd year and WE=59 and P = 83.  Still improving.  New engine recruit.

I have a PG on my WNM team who started at a 17 PE and is now at an 83 midway through his junior year, he had the sky's the limit in the scouting report.

For sure I'll let you know. I see this mostly with LP, but I do have another guy on my Bryant team who's per has gone from 52 to 83, with 6 improvement this season and began this season with big upside, his bh has also gone up a bunch but I forget where it began. So he'll definitely end up having 40+ improvement in per which will be by far the most I've had a player go up in per.

50+ point improvements in a category are no longer that uncommon.   I have a D2 team that I expect the current roster to have 10+ players/categories to grow over 50 points during their careers.  One player alone is 40+ in three categories (including +53, 29 to 82 LP) after two seasons.
I do agree it tends to happen more often with LP/PER.

I had a new engine recruit that started with 39 LP and a 17 WE.  He finished with 91 LP (and was still improving).

I think it makes sense that it mostly happens with LP/Per because those are things that can be taught and guys can make big improvements. When it comes to per look at Rip Hamilton, he's a guy that at one point didn't even take 3s then eventually led the NBA in 3pt %. In college Hakeem Olajuwon relied mainly on his remarkable athleticism but eventually evolved into the guy that many consider to have the greatest footwork ever for any big. Guys just don't turn into great passers because that's just about vision and vision isn't something that you can improve either your mind processes what's going on quickly or it doesn't. Rebounding is an area that I think should have less improvement, for whatever reason rebounding is something you either have or you don't. I can't think of any examples of a guy who was a weak rebounder who turned into an excellent rebounder.
