Thoughts on a hypothetical player Topic

He's a guy I'm thinking about recruiting, so I don't want to post him.

D2 player, motion/man-to-man, how do you feel about this guy's ratings (projected as a junior/senior):

Athleticism 50

Speed 50

Rebounding 75

Defense 50

Shot Blocking 50

Low-post 70

Perimeter 70

Ball Handling 45

Passing 50

Work Ethic 70

Stamina 85

Durability 65

He's probably a B FT shooter, too.

OK, I know the ath/spd isn't necessarily where you'd like it, and it would be nice if the bh was a little higher, but does the reb/lp/per make this guy a legit SF in an area where there just aren't a lot of good D2 SFs?

these days, i'd say that's a B- d2 SF

I'm not sure what B- means.  B-, like he's only a slightly-above-average D2 SF?  Or B- like that's who should be recruiting him?  I don't really think either are true, to be honest, but I do appreciate the feedback; that's why I asked.

OK, so who is better, that guy or this one:

Athleticism 70

Speed 35

Rebounding 45

Defense 75

Shot Blocking 45

Low-post 90

Perimeter 40

Ball Handling 50

Passing 50

Work Ethic 40

Stamina 85

Durability 50

FT: C

Essentially, the difference is this:

70 ATH               50 ATH
35 SPD               50 SPD
45 REB               75 REB
75 DEF               50 DEF
90 LP                  70 LP
40 PER               70 PER
C FT                    B FT

Thoughts on that?

I'd definitely go after the first guy and be quite happy if I got him.
11/15/2010 2:37 PM
The first one you posted is better.  Id play him at pf
11/15/2010 2:42 PM

Yeah, Brian.  My real concern is that I don't have a backup SF, and I have 4 or 5 legit bigs.

I really need a 3, because I have none after this year.

Dahs - do you mean the first I posted or the first in the comparison post?  Of course, I had to make it confusing.

I typically use guards for sf.  So if you need a sf I would only use this guys as my #2 sf
11/15/2010 2:52 PM

I know, it's probably tough to press with 50/50 guys at SF.  That's what I would do, though.  Use this guy as my backup 3, and slip a guard in front of him next year.

B- as in slightly above average as far as starters go. granted, average would be a non-postseason team. i think he'd fit in well backing up both forward positions

I would have him as a backup but not as a freshman.  As a fr I would put him as third on the depth chart

Yeah, we'll see.  I might wait this one out and see what's left when signings come around.  I'm going to have to an interesting dynamic with four seniors and seven underclassmen, so I'm not sure what I want to do yet.

ya its tough call.  Gl

He looks a little slow and a bit unathletic for a D2 SF. I like his other stats alot but spd/ath leaves alot to be desired for.
