So I see lots of posts asking which person is going to be the big star and who should I take over someone else...so I thought I'd mix it up!

Who is the worst player you recruited and turned into (or project to be) a star (or at least more than a role player)?

I once had a DIII freshmen center who missed his first 27 shots of the year. He could't even hit a layup or tapin.  By his senior year, he was all-conference

Here is mine.  I took him as the last member of a class a couple seasons ago because he had a 91 WE and several high-high potentials. However, at that moment...as a PF he had spd around 5 or 6, rebounding and shot blocking in the teens, and low post in the single digits.  His athleticism and defense were both very high already.   I figured maybe with a redshirt that by  his Sr season he could contribute, but I actually think he should be able to be a decent player next season as a redshirt sophomore, and if he keeps improving as he has so far and develops his passing which is also high-high he should be phenomenal as an upperclassmen in a few seasons.  He was rated at 380 when I got him, but is just up over 500 with a redshirt year and 6 games to go in what is now his freshman season.

First player I ever recruited in the game (i.e.-I had no clue what I was doing...) was a PG. Through his first three seasons had 168 points in about 1,100 minutes of court time. 109-114 assists-to-turnovers. I kept him because he had a defense rating in the upper 70s by the end of his soph. season, but was seriously thinking about cutting him loose as a junior because it just wasn't working out, and using him as a defensive stopper wasn't justifying his scholarship.

Enter the new engine. I decided to keep him just to see how he fared under the redesign.

His senior year: 323 points in 601 minutes.

i'm not sure this guy was a complete zero because of his high WE and 9 high potentials, but Dennis Lindley on my Ferris St team was a DIII caliber recruit that i signed at DII.  He had a mere 457 overall rating when i signed him, but he's now 714 3/4s of the way through his junior season.

considering that most freshman come off the bench and make most of their end of game layups, this guy has a special place reserved the the WIS halls of futility.  what was his LP/PER at the time?

I don't remember. It was long time ago, before potential

Paul Davis.  His freshman year, he couldn't do anything.  Couldn't shoot, wasn't improving enough. . . .and now has improved more than 140 points in his Sophomore and Junior campaign, and has developed a major league jumpshot for division three.

I wish I could remember what team, but I actually gave a walkon a scholarship (this was a while ago, when you could sometimes get a diamond in the rough) make all conference his redshirt senior season.

Where is pumphead...he has the absolute perfect example of this...has a senior on his team who started in the high 300s and is now over 700 and is averaging 20+ppg.

At Lynchburg (DIII), I brought in a PF that had great work ethic (back when it actually mattered) but only a 360 rating solely because he had a great rebounding rating and was 10 miles from campus.  I figured I'd have no competition for him and could spend more on better players.  Gave him a redshirt the first season and was forced to play him a lot his sophomore year at SF.  He became one of my better players, great rebounder, A+ foul shooter, and had improvable ratings across the board.  1st team all-conference, 2nd team all-conference, conference player of the year, and still is listed in the top 15 in rebounds.

Sorry cornfused, I don't care if it took a redshirt, nobody who won National FoY applies to a thread on players starting as "zeroes."

He was 381 to start... that's gotta count for something.
