no way fd.  that's not possible.  must be a glitch.

Wow.  Nice job BYU.

maybe BYU doesnt count, since this is their second consecutive trip to the finale and third in 6 seasons....on the other hand if one excludes super successful nonBCS schools/coaches then it is inevitable that one will decide that one cannot be super successful outside the BCS, eh?

new Smith cycle - 9 of the teams in the DI round of 32 are non-BCS - doesnt seem particularly broken

Mets/Nam,  you're saying things aren't broken because most nonBCS teams are currently sims.  You're looking at the end without looking at the means to that end.

Utah has 5 DI schools and ZERO BCS teams.  Hasn't anyone noticed that Midville UT is a hotbed of Five State recruits?  I'm guessing that most, if not all of the other 4 Utah schools are sims, posing no threat to BYU on the recruiting trail.  I don't think it's surprising to see nonBCS schools doing well at this point since 70% of nonBCS teams are sims.  What that means is that only 30% of the nonBCS teams (and the human BCS teams) are legitimately fighting for capable recruits.  If worlds were 100% full, you wouldn't see this much succcess from NonBCS teams.

Still there are natural geographic areas that contribute to  a situation as described above (BYU winning).  Another prime area is any nonBCS school in Los Angeles.  Of course they'd have to fight with USC and UCLA (schools where humans will be), but there are roughly 12 DI schools in LA--most will be Sims.  NonBCS teams in NY and LA are also good candidates because of the high ratio of NONBCS schools to BCS schools (and the fact that most NONBCS teams are sims).  And we all know that's how recruits are generated.

rails is totally right that the presence of lots of SIMs is very different than things would be if all or most schools were human coached - but I am not sure that we know the full extent of what would differ - hard to predict the dynamic effects of human decisions. Will we ever - ever again? did we ever? - see a world that is mostly human at DI?

2 advanced to S16 - statistically on the lower end of the real life average over the last 10 years.

12 non-BCS teams made the 2nd round in IBA.   Based on the brackets, there will be at least two in the Sweet 16.

I assume that's because good coaches have stayed and built it into an Iba  power.  It's not the nature of the game for the A10 to be a top tier conference.  In other worlds that I checked, the conference prestige is no better than C+

In Naismith, the A10 has the same rating at the Big West
In Wooden, its the same tier as the Ivy League
In Rupp, it's the 7th best conference but still below the BCS schools
In Smith, it has the same rating as the Big Sky.
In Crum, the A10 is tied with the MAC and Ohio Valley
