What's the slowest speed..... Topic

....you'd consider for a small forward at D3 (not running fastbreak or press), provided his other stats were very good?

I'd play Chalfant at SF.

haha thanks i was leaning that way, but since i picked up the transfer from Clemson I was thinking I might be able to start him at SF too.  Just have to decide if I'm better with Thompson-Chalfont-Lamarr or with Chalfont-Hubble-Lamarr

Not running FB or press...35ish. Would partly depend on athleticism and partly on how he performed in the exhibition and the first few games, but I could see a 50 Ath, 35 spd being good at SF. Maybe even a few points lower at ath if you don't need him to chip in as much on the rebounding department.

You'd be wasting his 80 REB at SF to some extent...  I think you'd be better off playing him at PF and playing Thompson at SF.  Thompson looks like a pretty good SF, actually, particularly if he has some room left for growth.

25, with a 60+ ath.  Chalfant would be fine at SF

Thompson still has quite a bit of room to grow, though his WE will have to come up if he's going to reach his potential.  He is low in Ath, Def, and Pass, high in speed, high high in LP, and avg in everything else.

I defided to start Thompson at SF and Chalfant at PF mostly to try and get Thompsons work ethic up.

Chalfant looks a little slow to me, but that may just be me since I started a thread questioning if my 42 spd player was quick enough for SF.

There really isn't a set answer and mostly involves how all the players on your team mesh together.  Would a faster player be better than a slower one, all else being equal?  Of course, but I've started a SF in D2 whose Spd was somewhere in the high 30's who ended up being a major contributor to a National Championship team.  That played M2M, for what it's worth.

Don't get me wrong, speed and athleticism are very important components to a team in HD, but they aren't the end-all, be-all to a successful team.  Not like they were before the engine changed.

That might be the case but take a look at what Zirkle has done on DIII N. Central in Knight, 73 Spd and 75 Ath, with 35 LP and 18 Per he is scoring over 18 points per game the last 2 seasons and he is already number 2 on N. Central's all time scoring list as a Jr. Pretty impressive if you ask me.

I'm with madpad. I'm just seeing way too many high ath/spd guy score at will even if their per/lp are really low. This guy drops 30 a game and steals the ball whenever he wants:

tianyi what kind of distro do you give him? Would you mind taking a look at Quintanar on my team and telling me what you think he's capable of?

Quintanar is probably your 3rd best scorer behind Zall and Vandzandt.  Some weird names on that team...
