Impact of a redshirt when he doesn't want it Topic

I want to a redshirt a player due to the number of highs he has and my depth at the position, but he doesn't like it. So I've undone it but now I'm considering doing it anyway, the loss isn't all that horrible (16 WE points). My deliberation is this:

Would he be better as a 4 year player with an initial 64 WE, or as a redshirted player with a 48 WE? Thoughts?

That's not much difference. I think you could go either way

If you already took it off and have not re-applied it, odds are it won't be just a 16 WE loss the next time you try it. However, the difference isn't much from a 64 to 48 I would have just kept that on. Its when it goes under 30 that I don't like redshirting them

5-yr player with 48 we. No question. Furry's dead on that he is likely to have a bigger drop if you try to RS him the second time though.

Yeah I think the 5 years at 48 would be just as good as no redshirt,if not better...

My experience is he doesn't take the RS, you can remove it and reapply and keep doing it. Eventually he will take it. Most I have done this is 4x.

My experience is he says the waffle thing and doesn't take it at all, but good luck.

I just had a playing who asked me do i want syrup with my waffle 2x, and took the RS the 4th time.

I had a guy who was considering me, and then I informed him that I planned on redshirting him. He immediately stopped considering me until I informed him on non redshirt. Is it pretty much guaranteed he won't accept a redshirt without trying it 4 times or whatever?

No, sometimes they will the first time. Sometimes they won't accept it at all. If you got the money inform of redshirt again with a cv or 2

needless to say an hour and a half after re-applying it to him i've heard nothing, and it took 15 minutes for him to reply and complain the first time

2nd time was a 22 point drop, might as well keep trying until gametime at 2 at this point

He will respond like recruiting, every 3 hour cycle.

This is all from one guy, in chronological order:

Coach, I think you've made better decisions - I'm not angry, but I'm not happy either. I just think you need to know how I feel.

I just don't think it's cool that you didn't say that I would be looking at a redshirt season when I got here.

William

Coach, just wanted to touch base on your decision. While I realize it's your program, I think I could definitely have made an impact this season. I don't think it's fair.

I just don't think it's cool that you didn't say that I would be looking at a redshirt season when I got here.

I mean seriously, make up your mind already - first you want to redshirt me, then you don't then you do...do you need some syrup to go with those waffles?

William

Coach, I was upset when I heard that you were redshirting me this season.

Hey coach, just got your message about redshirting me this year. Don't worry about me - I'm a team player. If you think it's right, I'm ok with it.

i see it took you four tries, maybe i can pull it off in 3 since i'll apparently only have one more shot before my first game
