Division 1, recruiting against SIMS Topic

Is there a guide someone can point me to?

I've spent 15k+ on a local recruit against a SIM(over 25 home visits and 5 CVs) and while he keeps saying he's interested, but I can't get him to consider me over the SIM.

I know SIMS don't have a distance penalty in recruiting, but I feel this is a bit ridiculous.  The SIM school has a half a grade higher than me in prestige.

Why is it ridiculous that a school that's higher in prestige than you might take significantly more effort than what you outline above? (Which is a decent amount but far from a lot for DI.) Seems fairly reasonable to me.

The truth is that, short of looking at FSS and seeing if the recruit is tight w. the school or not, it can be a bit of a crapshoot. If they're not tight per the FSS, beating the sim is easy. But if they are, it could take $10-15K, or it could take much more than that if the recruit is their top priority.

It's half a grade higher in prestige...not the difference between A and C....

I just have always thought it's ridiculous that SIMS have no penalty for distance in recruiting.

Thanks for the note re:FSS, I already had it, but didn't know about the specific FSS difference in message mattering.

My beef is how the SIMs have no distance penalty.  That creates a situation whereby it is very unwise to compete with a SIM recrui9ted player unless you are within 200 miles or so.

this is simply not true. sure, it gets harder past 200 miles, but generally speaking it is often trivial to beat a sim within 200 miles. so why not 300?

I've got to be honest -- it's stunning too me when I occasionally hear some people complain that sims are too difficult to beat in recruiting. The truth is that sims do a horrible job of recruiting and rarely sign any good players. Just exactly how awful do you want them to be?

I agree with girt/dalter here.  If the player is worth anything, it's pretty easy to knock off a sim.  And as for spending $15k, in D1, that's hardly anything IMO.

It's a bit annoying knocking off SIMS but it's not difficult. They do their recruiting in one shot, so you just have to keep sending HV and CV until you have them bit.

As an aside I thought you the frame of thought was to continually give CV as they were worth much more than a HV. Obviously a CV costs more, but I thought that helped you more than tens of HV. Help is appreciated.

im not sure i totally understand your question. are you asking if 1 campus visit is worth more than 10 home visits? 10 home visits is worth a lot more than 1 campus visit.

Sorry if it came off as solely as a complaint, I was just wondering if anyone had done a guide on it.

IE, do you try and knock them out in one fell swoop as the best strategy?

How do you know if you're making ANY progress other than getting the "considering"?

How many HV's, CV's, etc does it usually take to knock out a SIM?

I''m 20 HV's and 6 CV's(over time) in at this point and nothing...

Like girt said, check the SVV. If the recruit is a high priority for the sim it could be harder. The bottom line is continue to throw HV's and CV's at him until you have the sim beat. Once he's beat, he's beat and won't continue to fight. Make sense? Sorry if I'm not being very helpful, it's early! (LOL)

also, simply read your "Scholarship" emails and see if you're in the lead or not... once you are, it's a cakewalk.

Have now put in over 25k, still not considering, around 25 HVs and 10+ CV's.

I wish he'd just give me the not interested message at this point.

2 1/2 home visits?

the age old question stine...somewhere around 2.5 HVs is about right according to conventional/collective wisdom
