1 Home Visit, or 2 Scouting Visits? Topic

Which would you recommend to get a player to consider you with previous recruiting effort of 1 scouting trip and a call?

If you don't need the info from the scouting trips I would do the home visit.

I just stumbled upon this and my reaction to this is....REALLY? home visit, really?

I was told that a home visit has no value at all, unless the player is already considering your school

so recently i've been doing 5-10 scouting trips to get considered, then I use the home visit after i'm considered...this was recent so i've only done it this way once, but it seemed to work for me

AM I way off here, for the home visit? any info would be much appreciated, thnkas guys

noone told me a home visit has no value at all.

Someone told me that it has no value if you are not considered by the player when you issue the home visit

It only has value after you are on his list

so basically , i do multiple scouting visits, until my school is considered , then i do a HV to seal him up.

to your knowledge is that false? (HV having no value unless played has already considered you)

miller - you are confused about 2 very different situations.

when a player is in the division above you, on the recruit search page, you need to do evaluation visits to "pulldown" the player before you do home or campus visits. doing home and campus visits at this time simply results in them being rejected - you get your money back.

when a player is in the same division above you, home visits have the same value regardless of if the guy is considering you or not. however, whether a player is considering you or not, he may decide to decline your home and campus visits at some point. this is more likely if he is not considering you, or if you are behind in a battle. when this happens, you usually get your money back. on rare occasion, you may lose your money on a home visit. i personally have never had this happen to me, so i would just play assuming you will always get your money back. and normally, your home and campus visits will be accepted.

does that make sense?

and to the original question, home visit

i sorta understand, what does this mean "when a player is in the same division above you"

i'm in D3 and all the guys i'm looking at are D2 when i search...when recruiting these guys, i should not do a home visit or campus visit unless i am being considered, is this true?

what was the response you got when you sent the D2 recruit the call? Was it something like 'you're a backup option but keep in touch'? Because if that's the case, then you are correct, do not use a home visit it will be rejected.

correct, i was a back up option....then i stayed patient, waited to see which guys were considering schools and which weren't.... now i'm going after the guys who are undecided , the cycle before signing started I sent 4 scouting trips , then i just sent another 2 after 8pm tonight....i think i'm gonna keep sending the scouting trips until i get considered the send a campus visit with a scholarship

Is this a decent strategy for my D3 team , when looking at players who are D2 in my search?  is there something i should be doing differently?

You should absolutely be recruiting DII players, correct. You can't be competitive recruiting DIII players.

ok, but in terms of how I described it above, with continuous scouting trips.....should I be doing something differently?
