Player goes juco after signing d1 Topic

I signed an ineligible player in the naismith world, and after recruiting was over i get an email from him saying he didn't want to take a year off so he went to a junior college. just wanted to know if anyone else has ever had this problem?

Absolutely, that's the risk of signing ineligibles.  It's happened to me about a third of the time I'd say.

I've had worse luck than that lately...theoretically they have a better chance to stay if you give them extra love in recruiting, but I haven't had luck with that...

I'm pretty sure this is just a forum myth. I had a guy go Juco at D2 who I poured over 10k into and had other guys show up who I put minimum effort into. It's all random IMO.

Next season recruiting he might show up again..it will be easier to get him to consider this time. I have a sf on my squad that i recruited ineligable last season and he just signed this season with 3 yrs left of eligability..

I do believe this is something that was verified in the latest developers chat.   But still a lot of randomness.

I had a player go Juco in D2 and the next season I was able to sign him from 1200 miles for $110.
turned into a pretty solid player

verified via ticket to CS as well, sort of...they gave no indication on how much any additional effort affected the odds...it could be .01% for all I know and they'd still be telling the truth.

could you address some "forum facts" during this chat? forum fact - how much effort you expend on a player affects the odds that a nonqualfier will actually enroll?? (metsmax - Hall of Famer - 2:36 PM)

True

Just a guess in the dark but - -  It seems to me the better your program is (prestige) the greater the chance of an ineligible staying.

Even if they are saying it I've seen no proof that says it's true. In Tark Pitt who has an A prestige just had a player go JUCO after putting in a ton of effort. Oldresorter spoke about a guy who in another world with his Texas team he put in roughly 50k into and went JUCO. Like I said I've seen many examples to the contrary of what CS is claiming.

I have put 12k into a d2 guy and seen him leave.  $ is not the answers cs is NEVER wrong

I think this matters a lot as well. Also this matters in how much recruiting "effort" is carried over. Making it easier to re-sign a non-quali who went juco at a higher prestige school.

I think the money spent does affect if a player stays or goes but it is very very minimal.

Mets, I know that's what was said in the Chat, but I ain't buying it.  The last four ineligibles I've recruited have ALL signed AND shown up with me using the old $130 trick (call, start, 30 mins, scholly).  Literally, $130 and they all showed up.  I'm beginning to think that two factors may be at play here.  One, the prestige of the school involved.  Two, randomness, plain and simple.  Just one man's guess though....

emy I think that there is a very very very very small percent that is money spent. I agree it seems like its hardly even there.
