recruiting question Topic

I have a player that told me that my school was a fall back option, indicating that I could pull him down.  After I used 12 scouting trips and a schollie, he tells me that he does not see himself coming to my school.  Is this a closed door, or will it likely take more scouting trips, or ?????

Why so many scouting trips?  Would a campus visit be more effective?  This is my first year in HD after playing several in GD.  Looks like recruiting is alot different.

Campus (and home) visits can be turned down by  recruits, giving you no impact. Recruits can't "reject" the scouting trip, so you get recruiting impact every time you use one.

So that poses a question for me. When in a battle could it be more effective to use scouting trips rather than HV or CV?
I guess when you get in a battle you are not worried about trips being turned down so then it becomes more a matter of what is the more effective effort.

More evals or get another option.  Hes getting attention from someone else.

You get more bang for your buck out of HV/CV (which to use just depends on the distance).

If you're battling for a guy, then you're (hopefully) already on his considering list, meaning that you should be using HV/CV.  At that point the only reason to use scouting trips is to find his high-high categories.

on average, how many evals does it take to pull a D2 recruit down to D3?

Thanks.  And does this number go up if the recruit is already considering a simAI D2 school?  if so, by about how much on average?

if a school in a division above you is going after the guy it's going to take a ton extra - best to just leave him be and save your cash IMO

With an A- prestige going after a DII guy who was considering a C- DII school, it took about $8,000. and that *barely* got him.

I don't think 10 is the average. 10 is usually the low end of what it takes IMHO. I've had it take as much as 20 or 25 (rarely). A lot of them will drop for 10 though.

I rarely have to use more then 10.  If I am poaching from a sim It usually takes 20 to get him to consider me.  Dont be afraid of sims they are easier to figure otu then humans.  There are no surprises with sims.  For me the avg is easilly 10 evals.  If someone else is doing the same as you it increases the amount needed but almost always 10 is it for me.
