Alright I am moving this post from mully's thread, I don't want to hijack it.

I wish that there would be more kids that have very good potential. All I see in my first season back is a bunch of kids with average potential and then high potential in a meaningless category for his position. Why not have some kids who are rated lower (0-3 stars) who have really good potential all around. Guys that the little schools are much more likely to scout and if they lose the kid to a bigger school (which yes is a possibility if a bigger school finds him) then that opens up another higher level guy for another school that the elite team would have taken. Plus it gives the coach more of an ability to improve his players, right now it looks like i'm going to be deciding if i want 1 point in PER and 1 in BH this year or two one of those, doesn't seem like too much variation. Or maybe something along the lines of 'diamonds in the rough'? Kids that when scouted and evaled show a great work ethic? Just brain storming, I just have a feeling I'm going to be disapointed by player growth still...

I am sure this has been went over and over again (and no HD vets I did not search the forum ) but are there thoughts? Am I wrong is potential working as well as it could?

A+++. Scouted every state except for California and Texas. End up feeling the money was wasted in the search for the elusive 9 high potential players or high high categories. The ones that are; have 1 categories as you mentioned. Big Foot is not as elusive.

100% agreed.

I don't think high potential guys are quite as rare as you guys are stating, but there are significantly more low potential ratings than before and fewer high potentials, particularly in key categories.

The overall effect is much worse at low/mid DI and is a good part of the reason why it is so much more difficult for non-BCS programs to consistently compete on a national level. (Not to mention that it's flat-out boring and annoying to have a bunch of players who aren't improving.)

We are in the era of lowered expectations.

Once recruiting is over for me in Phelan I will share what I found there. I really see a problem at low to mid d1, we somehow need to give them a slight ability to compete like we had before the overhaul. I'll admit i was for some changes that in retrospect may not have been as good as i thought.

I told you d1 sucks *** its only good at the major level.  TO compete at the lower levels you need 6 man classes and only can compete occasionally and pray for no ee's.

assuming that the number of 0-star recruits with high potential is somewhat random (i.e. there's a % chance that any given player has high potential in a category) i think the easiest fix would be to increase the total number of recruits.

i really wonder what seble is working on right now...

After approximately one day back in HD, you hit the nail on the head. Funny that it's so obvious to you but seble couldn't see it until it was too late. OR, VD, myself and others were beating this drum as soon as we saw the new configuration of recruits, but it fell on deaf ears. (Seble admitted to me in a ticket exchange last week that they're now "aware of this issue".)

Gonzaga just won the NT in Rupp.

I know its possible but not very likely with ee's and the current recruit generation.  If d1 doesnt change for the better soon ill never play it again.  Ive dropped 4 teams due to this

I tried too... I could prolly pull my posts from the test site but I pushed very very very hard against a few things and was basically told no. After that I quit beta testing and then the game all together because I thought we were there to help test and point out problems? But apparently were were there to agree with w/e was programmed.

And seble don't take that the wrong way, I think you've got a very good product that with a few tweeks and adjustments could be even better!

Gonzaga was an elite team before the changes went into effect.

Gonzaga has never been an elite team, not in the old prestige model nor the new. I believe their baseline is somewhere around B/B+

Gonzaga in Rupp won a NC in season 42 and has been A- or above since then.  They were quite capable of recruiting with the big boys before the changes took place.
