Just an idea - if that is indeed what you are trying to do, and I will indeed give you the benefit of the doubt...then just respond to the people who respond to you in the way you want, and don't say anything to the others.  There were several in the thread who gave you useful responses.  Just go with those and let the others roll off.  Definitely WON'T get them to give you a chance by responding and playing the game.  Right?   There were maybe two negative postsand one sort of.   Only two would possibly be interpreted as 'personal'.

i have to say, i think everyone is reading what they want into colonels' posts-- he said thanks for the answers and was immediately mocked. how is that him starting anything, or calling anything personal?

he even said "i didn't know if it was ratings or stats" or whatever... I remember back in the day when everyone always forum-yelled at him to just accept the answers he got, not only the ones he wanted. Well, isn't that exactly what he did here?

i'm more referring to the demeanor of his posts. being oddly polite for a message board--ending posts by going "thanks again :)" or "Again, thank you for the responses and if any others have them, I'd love to read them as well.  Thank you and take care. Trevor"--is cute and all, but totally unnecessary when it comes to having civilized discussions about HD.

i point this out in a slightly condescending way and "new" colonels ZAPS into "old" colonels, especially with the classic "i will respond to everything because i think its weak not to" excuse. he's not even being polite anymore .

everyone is definitely giving him the benefit of the doubt with all the posts, i'm personally just not satisfied with polite colonels. if everyone else is maybe i should just shut up about it.

So pretty much hes trying to not say anything offensive and then you provoke him because you arent happy with him arguing about something stupid? Sounds reasonable.

If he's making an effort, let's give him the benefit of the doubt.

is that really what you got from my post? did you even read what i said?

colonels never offended anyone he was just very stubborn/close-minded. he doesnt need to be polite so i think its silly that he's trying to be.

I'm not trying to be polite per se, I'm just asking questions like any normal human being would.  I am appreciative of the answers, and when haven't I been a service with a smile kind of guy...I'm always givin' y'all what you want.  If you haven't seen a change in the last 5 months in me, and it's probably mainly that I'm not posting as much because I'm back to work, then I don't know what to say.  People will see in me what they want, and if what I do is irk you every time I post, then I enjoy it...if you like my posts...then I enjoy it...smiles or tears...it's always been your choice...

The whole "Dennis Rodman" routine does get rather stale from you, Colonels.

Glad to hear you're back to work, man, that's great. (No sarcasm intended, just in case there was any ambiguity there.)
