Homecourt grades Topic

In DIII, my team is 43-4 at home over the last 4 seasons.  My homecourt grade is C-.  Is there much variation in DIII homecourt?  Does the grade have any efftect on a game?  I have never thought about this stuff before and would like feedback.

very little effect or variance at the DIII level.   It also mostly resets each year so there is no credit for accumulating wins over several seasons.

I believe the highest home court I have ever seen in D3 (not that I have much experience) is C. There may have been a C+ somewhere, but I think it was C. Greensboro in Tark is as successful a program as you will find, and it has only a C home-court advantage.

I also believe (and this has no backing other than my belief) that home court advantage isn't dictated by how well you do at home, but instead by your overall success.

I think HCA is designed to, well, provide some advantage for the home team (the spreads would seem to support this) but I'm not sure precisely how it impacts game play. It could be a flat amount based on letter grade, it could be a modifier of home team skills/talent, it could be something else.

At D3, I think C is as high as you can go and then they run the gambit all the way down to D-.

My D3 team usually started the year as a D+ and then bumped up to a C- after a half-dozen wins or so. Maybe it was just me adjusting my perceptions to match the reality of the change in letter grade, but it sure seemed like, over the final 8-10 minutes of a game, my team did a better job of holding leads/making runs when it was a C- as opposed to the D+.  Like I said, whether there's any reality to it or if it was just me seeing it more with the awareness that I'd improved by a partial letter grade I don't know...I think there's SOME influence on the game there though.
