How am I a #2 seed, despite going 28-1, winning the CT, ranked #2 in the nation via WIS and #3 in RPI?

your conference schedule is weak, no fault of your own. you could remedy that with a stronger non-conference schedule. you had a few tough teams in there, but there was at least four non-conference teams that you shouldn't of sceduled.

Doesn't explain how this team took the #1 seed:

And I'm pretty sure my schedule is tougher than this team's as well, who also got a #1 seed, although he's ranked #1 in the T25 ranking, so can't really knock him down to 2 seed:

i agree with you on mass. liberal, but hamline is too close to call. i'd assume hamline benefits from finishing the season beating two tough opponents. where as your team only had to beat one tough opponent.

MCLA had 7 wins against RPI top 50 while you only had 5.  Hamline had 8.

MCLA also faced 6 teams in the 300s rpi, while I had 1. I have a much higher SOS than MCLA and slightly higher SOS than Hamline. I probably wouldn't switch spots with MCLA since his half of the bracket is harder but this seeding makes no sense.

SOS is not taken into account when teams are being seeded (although I wish it did this year).  The seeding just doesn't seem weird to me.  I'd probably give MCLA the 1 seed, too, but your team is probably the better team tianyi.

Ehh, to me there's really no difference between a 1 and a 2 seed.  Still gotta win the games in front of you and the deeper you get into the tournament, the more the matchups tend to even out.  I do think you have a very legitimate argument to be a 1 seed, but as you said, in this instance being the 2 might actually be a more favorable draw.

SOS is included as 75% of the total RPI, along with 25% from the team's weighted W-L.

You probably wouldn't want to switch with Hamline either.

Of the 7 other schools in my half of the bracket, there are 4 A+ programs, 1 A program, 1 A- program, and 1 sim (my first round opponent)!

Out of curiosity, what makes you say you had a harder schedule that I did this year?

Are you just basing it on the SOS number or something else?

This is interesting, but think of it this way (though note that I am not saying this is how it is done by the computer) -

For a #1 or #2 seed, what is the difference between playing Lycoming (8-20, 221 RPI) and playing UMass, Dartmouth (9-18, 324 RPI).?

The 300 number is a perfectly fine - albeit arbitrary - cut off, but you were each favored by 50 points against your respective opponents. I'm not sure Mass. Liberal should be penalized too much in the seeding because his cupcakes were slighly more cupcake-ish than yours. It should matter far more (and perhaps it does) how many times a team faced/beat a team that actually had something more than a hail mary chance of winning (however you figure out which teams those are).

i had a team that was 15 RPI but only got a 7 seed.  Wasn't too thrilled with that, but whatever...make the best of it.
