lol fyi season is not over, im now in the sweet 16
yes it is - you just don't know it yet. I'd give 100-1 odds you get beat tonight...nothing personal, but have you checked out the other team/coach?
dac, the other team is better, but 100-1? That's ridiculously excessive. coachuk definitely has a chance.

thanks girt, i think i have a chance, and yes, iv looked at the other team, i def think i have a chance. i dont think you have looked much, if u think i have 0 chance.

I don't think you have 0 chance. I think you have 1 in 100 chance...

(and I show my ignorance of probability as I seem to remember something about 100-1 and 1 in 100 being different, but don't really care enough to figure it out...)

ETA: Not to disparage your season or anything, and I was going for snarky/funny, but I do think you'll lose.  Your team is lacking in ath and def, and you spot start a guy with 19 ath and 19 def over your team's best player. The other coach has 3 CCOY, a NCOY, a 28-12 NT record and a national championship. (Then again, who the hell am I, and why should you care about my opinion anyway?)

i know hes a good coach, i sport 4 out of 6 seasons getting to the sweet 16 at least, including a Title game apperance, 12-4 in NT which is actually a better percentage than my foe, as well as a better overall record, i agree he has good athletes, and i spot start the guy because early in the season he didnt have the IQ for my offense and def and was turning the ball over a tun, i typically start the guys who i want for matchup purposes, game to game. i feel iv made the correct choices throughout the season.

Your opinion is valid, i just think that i would win more then 1 out of 100 vs this team i oppose, im not going to shed light on what i have discoverd weekness wise about his team, so not to give away my adjustments.

i suspect you underestimate the time i go into looking into the teams i play and finding ways to expose there weeknesses, i think i do pretty good with this team. if i showed you this team at the beginning of the season, would u say i would get 31+ wins without a loss? i bet most wouldnt. especially in conf play.

i hope my opponent does enough research himself to try to win the game.
in another world i was a 16 seed with a below average seed in div 2 a few seasons ago and upset the #1, i hardly look at my matchup and see not much of a chance. in fact id say i have a 55 percent chance of winning.

he played the same starting lineup all season, not sure why he started 2 freshman, but he won some good games with that lineup

You've done well, that's true. I love your confidence, and, uglyskunk, you ought to be championing this guy as a paragon of gameplanning, based on other recent threads...I'm guessing (and its only a guess, I don't know the other coach) that based on his track record your opponent game plans too...at any rate, it is time in this thread for the obligatory no hard feelings and good luck.

no hard feelings taken, its all in good fun. I Play to win, and i think that if you take time in gameplanning you will be much more successfull, even if you dont have the most talented team out there.

Paragon of gameplanning -- nice, dac.

So can I take you up on those odds? Glad to put up 1 to your 100. Heck, I'll be overly generous and go with 1 to your 50. I'm sure you're game with me cutting your odds in half, right?

As a former student of the school you're coaching, I commend you on your efforts. UMD is a pretty tough recruiting spot so anytime you can have success it's pretty impressive to me.

you know girt, I knew someone would want to take me up on the odds - and I'm not gonna take you up on it, but only because I just don't want to go through the hassle and stress just to win a buck...and of course if you raise your bet high enough to make it interesting, I won't be able to cover...so I guess I'm all talk, but I still think he's getting beat...

An update from undefeated teams in tark NT: undefeated CCNY (RPI 32) gets a 6 seed and loses in the 2nd round to the 3 seed.  Undefeated Carrol (RPI 42) gets a 9 seed and loses in the 1st round to the 8 seed.  There were no undefeated teams in D1 or D2, but James Madison went 28-1 and got an 8 seed.  They lost in the 2nd round to the 1 seed.

just because he did, doesn't make it right. that is a blunder.

Agreed ... as I've said many times, you have to be able to differentiate between winning because of something and winning in spite of something.
