I don't know, Duncan is one of the greatest NBA centers ever, but strictly from a HD perspective, what values do folks think he would have in PER, SP, passing, and BH?  Even if you give him 100's in the other categories, would his scores be high enough in those four ratings to bring him over 1000?

Ath - 80
Spd - 40
Reb - 99
Def - 99
SB - 98
LP -98
Per - 65+ (Per is not only 3-point shooting, and he has that little jumper down to a science)
BH - 35
P - 50
WE - 100
ST - 90
Dur - 85

So 939 or so?

Here's my Tim Duncan (as a senior):

ATH: 95
SPD: 60 (let's not forget that the guy was a swimmer - his sister was an olympian, I believe - and an all-around great athlete
REB: 100
DEF: 95
SB: 100
LP: 100
PER: 60 (he has a little range, and hit some threes in college)
BH: 40
PASS: 60 (average 3+ assists per game)
STA: 95 (37 MPG his senior year)
WE: 100
DUR: 100 (ever really been hurt?)

I come up with 1005

Editted because zbrent reminded me, despite others' recent contentions to teh contrary, the per is about the mid-range, too.

wait - other's recent contentions to the contrary? per is definitely about mid range, thats is not really debated at all as best i can tell. and i can't recall hearing anybody say differently, so im curious, is there a thread or something in particular you are talking about?

See uglyskunk's post.
interesting. that is totally and completely wrong though, per absolutely matters in mid range jump shots.

Yeah, I know.  I get his overall point, just not that part.

Anyway, TD rains 15-footers.

duncan definitely has decent range. his go to shot for a while (and still is) is the 10-12ft bank shot.

So, did we figure out that Tim Duncan was the greatest HD player of all time? Or did I get that confused? I totally think he would rule...

Sorry, did I miss the part where Duncan led his team to 2 National Titles, a Final Four, and a Sweet 16?  Or did Duncan never see a Final Four?  McCarl totally owns Duncan!

i think he was talking about fake players only...

Let's see how Mr. McCarl does in the NBA before we settle on a verdict! I predict he's gonna crash and burn like Adam Morrison, and many of the college big shots before him.

McCarl just better hope that his NBA team eventually drafts Mark Gilchrist.  That Sweet Sixteen exit in McCarl's junior year was when Gilchrist guarded him and put down the clamps.  My only regret is that I wasn't smart enough to let Gilchrist guard him again in this year's tournament, because I was so worried about Stratton.  Doh.

Gilchrist is a defensive beast. He's like bruce bowen but with better handles and passing skills.

Stratton would've eaten Miles and Shea for lunch :)
