People in Hoops Dynasty and GD Topic

People in GD and HD. Is Hoops Dynasty as flawed as Gridiron becasue I really love the premise. I would even do Hardball if that is fun. Any opinions are appreciated thanx.

i've played all three... and i liked all three. all three have their pluses and minuses.

i like the fact there are more gams in HBD... less down time, but less tweaking when it comes to game by game strategy. (but i love trading, drafting, developing in the minors)

HD is flaw in some senses, but not as all reaching as GD. I've never been DI in HD but i hear there are problems with recruit generation. Also some really high FG%s.

GD i just don't really get right now, my #1WR hardly was thrown the ball etc. I'm thinking of ditching my GD teams and going back to HBD for a few seasons to see what happens.

since fg% is up across the board for everyone I don't know why its a huge issue, but I seem to be outvoted in this since it is going to be nerfed, and probably eff up the engine when it does - hopefully just in time for my 2 best teams to hit the tournaments and get screwed.

My $.019-

All three have flaws.  IMO- GD is no more or less flawed than HD, but the community is much more resistent to change in GD for whatever reason.  (A guy abandoned his GD team in my conference... two seasons later they are still ranked... and people claim talent doesn't win games!)

HD feels like it has less downtime than GD, due to shorter recruiting, shorter playoffs, and more regular season games.  There are some flaws that you'll find, and usually they are nerfed/fixed relatively quickly.  The major gripes right now are around recruit generation at the low-DI level.

HBD makes GD and HD look like side projects- it's incredibly more involved, as you manage 5 teams, not just one.  Along with rule 5 drafts, injuries, promotion and demotions- it's great fun, but I equate the effort for one HBD franchise to 3 or 4 HD teams.

GD bothers me because I don't get it, but I do feel like vs. HD there's a lot less to do in GD, as if you don't have the talent, no gameplan will win a game for you.

GD is unplayable now.

It's not that they are resistant to change - on the contrary, the users begged for change for months.  The change was so poorly implemented, that Admin actually released an apology to all users.

HD is much better than GD is now, HBD is very good too.

before I ever played HD, I was seriously interested in GD...but some things annoyed me about it.  I've watched a ton of college football in my life, and I've never heard of the ND Box.  WTF is that?  The way the offenses were structured (and outdated?) and the whole offensive/defensive line being run together as a unit and stuff really gave me some pause, as I guess I was looking for more realism.  Then I also realized that every team had their backup QBs playing some snaps and stuff b/c the starting QB had stamina issues or something, then every team had about 3 RBs gaining 1000-2000 yds it seemed and each had gaudy 6-7 yds per carry.  Seemed like Tecmo bowl or something, so then I looked at HD and found that to be more to my liking.

But I was going to sign up for GD over the past 45 days to give it a shot b/c they were having a FREE GD promotion basically, but then I saw all the complaints about the new GD engine on the GD forums and just said screw it and never signed up.

jdno, good choice.  Despite the limitations you bring up, the old game was actually quite fun... though not totally realistic in football terms.  Ultimately I left, probably never to go back, due to extremely poor customer service and rudeness from the CS staff.  Destroying the actual game engine played a part, too.

GD is currently unplayable, as hitman said. I kept one final team with the goal of breaking the D2 passing record, which should be done next season. Then I'm out as well.

I've played HD for a very long time, with this and other IDs. I played GD for a while and found it to be much less fun that HD, even though in real life I prefer College Football to College Basketball. With the changes in GD it has become even less fun and I quit all of my teams. HD is far better than GD is.

HD>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>GD

And I'm a way bigger college football fan than college basketball...I've never liked GD...NEVER

Definitely in agreement with the sentiments in this thread.

HD is not perfect, but it is definitely playable and enjoyable (those whose ambitions were to coach a non-Big Six D-I program might differ on this...). Unless my personal finances change, I plan to be playing this game for a very long time and have been considering adding an additional team for the past month.

GD is hideous (you can read my "open letter" on that forum for a deeper take on my issues with the game) and I can't, in clear conscience, recommend that anyone pay hard-earned cash for it at this time.
Worst part about GD is they rolled out a worse engine, dominated by luck, and then reduced rewards by over 50%, and GD rewards was already worse than HD with reduced reward points (as much as 75% reduction) for more playoff appearances in any level lower than D1A.
