The Best DIII Team of All-Time Topic

i kind of like reinsel's big a little better actually, especially for a press team. higher spd, lp and passing.

game is different now, I went 35-0 with no games within 20 points the entire time, all 35 games.  At the time, a game strategy existed that gave coaches a huge edge over everyone else (for those FCP haters I was running man combo, not FCP at the time).

The game is set up these days such that I don''t think any team will ever win all 35 games by over 20 again, even recent changed to rebounding and such, are set up to even things out, teams that go 35-0 these days deserve more credit than in those old days because of the evenness, still they do it more with ratings than a strategy, and more to do with doing many little things strategically correct, more than one big thing, nothing wrong with that, but IMO the game designers should be constantly looking to keep strategy vs ratings in balance.

I may not have had much success yet, but I don't think bragging and arguing over having a great DIII is worth it.  And reinsel's player, going by the stats is better.

what are you looking at? reinsel's guy is very good, but he isn't better then jones guy.

Does anyone else think jones and skunk are the same person?

lol I never really thought about it but its possible  guess

He told you skunk, he's going by the stats.  The problem with that obviously being that they didn't play the same schedules or with the same teammates.  But he's not wrong.  Statistically Reinsel's player is in fact not only better but significantly better.  He grabbed a lot more boards and scored significantly more with a better %.  He also averaged an extra block per game, more steals, more than twice as many assists, and only a few more TOs.  Also played a few more minutes...

I've declared my Westminster (MO) team, 35-0 National Champs in Phelan against the #2 SOS, sporting a cool .7287 RPI, the best Division Three team of the new engine, at least.

With only 5 upperclassmen, including likely the best DIII big man of this engine (>80 in all relevant big man cats, B ft shooter), the Blue Jays are no one and done program, we'll be back next year and the following years as well. However, no team will be crafty quite like this one.

Carrell is a great point guard, Smith is an excellent SG with many facets to his game, Turner (707) is a tremendous role player at SF, and then Dennis and Taylor are absurd down low.

I remember a while back Billy G made a post about the perfect team-- that's how I felt about these guys, they were the perfect role players who went from me having a good A+ team, to being high/high in just the right categories, meshing perfectly together, and becoming the A+ team.

I think I still own (last I checked that thread anyway) the highest recorded RPI in D3 in any world (did it in Phelan with Staten Island).  That team could've taken your team. :-)

Oops, I see I've now been bumped down to 5th. You're now #1 RPI all time.  Congrats!  I still think my team could've taken yours.  I had 7 seniors, 4 juniors.  But your RPI gives you the bragging right for sure, you're #1.

I am the best looking coach in all of WIS.

what? how does that matter? jone's guy went up against the second hardest schedule and played against only 2 teams with rpi's over 300. reinsel's played against the 18th best schedule and beat 5 team's with rpi's over 300. just comparing stats is a poor way to conclude whom is the better player. i'd take jones guy to war all day.

Season 50 Greensboro in Tark was better if memory serves. Also undefeated, played in one of the toughest confs, played the #1 SOS, and had some of the greatest d3 players i've ever seen, including the greatest.
Thanks for the shout-out tkimble.

Yeah I hate to pile on aejones...but I've had 3 or 4 teams@ Greensboro in the new engine that were probably just as good, if not better, than yours. I've also seen other teams in Tark D3 whose rosters were just as talented and didn't make an NT final. I don't watch other worlds closely though and don't know how talent compares  - Tark may be tougher.

Not that I'm one to toot my own horn excessively or get in a ******* contest, ahem. That would just be poor form. <hides>
