10 NT teams, 1 PIT Topic

anyone seen better? I feel like i've seen other leagues with 10 in before, but cannot remember.

ACC Naismith, season 49. Somehow FD managed to kick enough butt that he got a 1 seed while the rest of us were dropping like crazy. Should be an interesting postseason.

I think.

FSU made the PIT, and probably had a legit shot at the NT with a slightly tougher noncon schedule.

In the Big East Tark we sent 10 teams a few seasons ago but none got into the PIT, so this is a bit more impressive. The funny thing is we've had 2 seasons in the last 5 or 6 where we sent 10 and 9 teams and neither time did we send a team past the Sweet 16. Another time we sent 7 teams in the NT and had 5 in the Elite 8, 3 in the Final 4 and an all BE championship, not surprisingly won by Oldresorter.

Hard to agree with a team going to the NT with a 6-10 conference record. Is that common in HD?
With that overall record, RPI and SOS, it would have been a travesty of justice if he didn't get an NT bid.

You've got to remember that there are conferences in HD that are light years tougher than even the best real life conferences.  I've gotten an at large bid with a 5-11 conference record, but the ACC Allen is year in and year out one of the toughest conferences in HD.  I don't remember what my RPI was when bids came out - I went to the Sweet-16 that season and finished with an RPI of 18.

I was also a 1st round favorite as a 14 seed.

Looks like smart scheduling on the part of these coaches.  In a conference like that, it's real easy for guys to schedule too tough in non-conference, and then wind up under 14 wins.

Big 12 in Knight will be close to this, maybe something like 9 in the NT and 2 in PIT, we'll know tomorrow afternoon.

wow, 11 post season teams, that is amazing. congrats :)

does anybody know what the record is outside of d1? seems these kind of awe-inspiring seasons are mostly in d1 conferences. but im not sure if thats true or if i just haven't really heard of the others.

It's primarily D1 because of the tiers of conferences gives the big boys a recruiting advantage.  In DII and DIII,  that's  not the case.

I'm in a DIIi Iba conference that had 9 teams in the post-season (6 NT, 3 PIT)

He has the 3rd highest RPI in the division.

You're right, he deserves to go to the NT I gues I was just surprised to see such a good team with a terrible conference record. Of course, the conference is ridiculous.

Am I the only one that thinks SOS is given too much weight?  Moral victories shouldn't count so much more than real victories, IMO.
