Would there still be a WE hit since the ratings changes stop for the year once conference tournaments are done? (honest question since I've never been in a position where I could redshirt someone at the end of a year for not playing)

Yes - NT is over for me and when he rejects the redshirt, his WE goes to 1.  Makes no sense.  Why wouldn't the kid want the option at this point of playing as a 5th yr senior.  Honestly - it shouldn't even be up to the kid at that point.  It's just the coaches filing paperwork.  If a kid doesn't log a minute of time, he doesn't burn a year of eligibility.
