DI C- prestige school. Have a chance at a 4 star? Topic

Yeah. I see what you mean. If A coach battles me for the player, then B coach that battles A coach for another player,  and B coach knows how much A coach has spent on that player. Interesting. I had not considered that. Now I must consider whether I should recruit him for the sake of the integrity of the recruiting.

I don't see much of a problem with this.  Publicly saying what you are going to do is ok with me.  Offering anything, negotiating, etc is off limits, as is any kind of quid pro quo, but if you want to post on your CC that I am putting everything into #15 SG Mike Davis, that is giving away confidential information and can only hurt you.

Besides, what if you are fibbing? I have no way of knowing you have $90K to spend.

i wonder if this post itself is ethical. i really don't like that your telling everyone your recruiting strategy. i could see this as a way of detering other teams from this player. you basically identified the player, gave his quality and distance and anyone with interest will have to believe that your going to pore 90k into him, when in fact you might only have to put enough to show that he is very tight with you.

i'm sure you didn't intend to use this thread as a recruiting strategy, but nevertheless you have.
Honestly, if that was part of his strategy, I like the move. There's so little that we have at our disposal in the way of gamesmanship.

i don't really agree with this sentiment. what if he was an a+ school, and named 3 local targets he was dead-set on signing? i guess people might get ****** off over time and gang up on him, but i have been in many situations where i felt naming some of my targets would help me, and have decided not to because it seems unethical to me. people used to sitemail me all the time asking who i was going after so they could steer clear, so i have to believe some people would do it off a CC post as well.

that said, i pretty much have no problem if somebody reveals their recruiting strategy for the primary purpose of learning something.

Honestly, it's hard for me to imagine that sinking basically your whole recruiting budget into one four-star player would be worthwhile. Even if you signed him, I truly think that it would end up as more of a negative than a positive for your program.
i agree with girt. whats the point of having one awesome player and a whole bunch of walk ons? does that make losing better?
Agreed.  Moral victories suck.

I agree with Reinsel here.  As long as it's public and everyone has access to the same info, then I personally think it's fine.

isn't it kind of a disadvantage for OP, since now anyone knows exactly what to spend to beat him?

That's kind of what I was thinking.

D+ school recruited four star yesterday in Crum.

And you recruited a 4 star at C+. So are mid majors starting to get in the mix more?

I thought it had been established that he faced a significant multiplicative prestige disadvantage to those A+ prestige schools out there that typically recruit 4 star recruits? What's that 90k cost to one of them?

Im going to guess at least 30K. Unless they have the luxury of offering a starting spot and minutes.

Honestly, your gonna turn over 11 kids in the next 2 seasons..... I would think with $90,000+ recruiting cash each year you could get 4-5 high potential decent guys each season, and 3 seasons from now have a real competetive team.... One nice kid this season and nothing else... looks to me like it does alot more harm than good. You might be able to bring in 2-3 kids both years, who would finish close to where this one will end up anyway.... 4 little stars by a guys name doesn't make him a game changer for you.

If he really is a stud with high potential in his cores... you can be pretty sure a high prestige team will take him from you with minimal effort.
