Can a SG play PG? Topic

Next season, I'm extremely worried about my PG situation, both of mine are graduating but I do have 2 very solid SG's. I was wondering in a emergency situation where I don't get a PG to commit which one would be a better fit at PG? (Note that both these guys will be back next year, so maybe they'll grow even more)

I was thinking Hagopain would be the better out of the 2, but let's say I get a real middle of the road recruit to play PG (lets say right around 500) should I play Hagopain/Griffith or my straight PG recruit?

Neither of them have good enough passing to play PG but, in a pinch, go with Hagopain.

I don't like freshmen PGs but, if you find one with better BH/PASS than these two, you may have to suck it up.  But I'm more inclined to have the freshman at backup until his IQ's are at least C or C+

Any PG or SG can play either spot.  In fact, any player can if his ratings fit.  Generally, you will want to fill the PG slot with a PG or SG but that is just because the right ratings are more often found among those players

I might even go with Parish at PG.  His speed is increasing, so it should be 50+ by next season and his BH and PASS ratings are fine for that position.

Parish and HAgopian at PG/SG.  Although Hagopian might look interesting at SF as well.

A 500-rated PG is "middle of the road"?   For me, a D+ D2 team, that'd be a solid recruit right now.  I guess perspective is everything. :)

From what folks here have said, assists are mostly window dressing.  I'd be more worried about having two guards with high BH and PAS ratings than I would their formal position.

But they are Jr. and So. so if your D2 team is stacked with 500 rated JR. you probably won't be able to compete.

Anyways, neither are good at PG, but the first guy is a solid SG/SF with that ath.

True that, Tianyi - I was thinking of 500-rated recruits.

I just had one get conference player of the year at PG.  Go check out UW Oshkosh in Phelan.  He was obviously a big time player, but I used him there for 2 seasons.

There are some attributes, like passing, that need to be much higher for your guards.

At Div-II, I don't even look at guys who are under 35 passing if they have high potential or under 50 passing with average potential for a Guard spot.  (That means about 60 minimum as a JR/SR).  IMHO, your guards need to have 60 or above as JR/SR for Speed, PER, BH, and Passing.  If you want a guy at PG only, you might be able to go a bit lower on PER, but then you need to have much better BH and Passing.

So if you were me what would you do with the starting lineup?
