Stupidest. Mistake. Ever. Topic

So I got my mid-term report, and it said Player A had a 3.4 GPA and Player B had a 2.2 GPA. Both guys are upperclassmen with good previous GPA's, but to be safe, I decided to give Player B 10 mins the rest of the semester. Except...

I accidentally gave the mins to Player A instead.

Final GPA: Player A: 4.0, Player B: 1.9.

Player B is (was) my starting SG, a 40% 3PT shooter and my best defender on the perimeter. That'll hurt. But hey, at least Player A is on track for that Rhodes Scholarship.

Anybody else ever done anything like this, or am I just that special?

A few seasons ago, I was winning a tough, tight recruiting battle coming down to the last day.  I happened to wake up in the middle of the night and checked the situation on my phone.  Still had the lead, but wanted to do some extra effort to seal the deal.  Short on cash, I meant to offer playing time and hit go.  That's what I thought I did and went back to sleep confident I had the guy or, at worst, would still be battling when I woke up.
Much to my surpirse, I woke up to the "too late" e-mail.
Turns out, in my tired state, instead of offering minutes, I informed the kid of a redshirt, which really made him mad and he ended up siging with my opponent overnight.
Watch those thumbs on smartphones.

My first NT game ever I somehow messed up and played zone defense, with all F IQs.  No idea how I did it, not even a smartphone mistake.

Thanks, I feel a little better now!

I have made MANY stupider mistakes.

What is the most recent stupid mistake I can remember?  It was day after signing day, fighting over a kid who I figured would be my backup SF.  I'm running somewhat low on money so I decide to promise him 10 mins, which is about what he think he will play anyhow.  A cycle later he signs.  The next day I look and see that I promised him a start .......aaarg

My entire recruiting job this season in Tark was a mistake. Purchased FSS and got enamored by 3 guys High/High potential...only to totally ignore the fact that their WE's are below 20.

I have done the work ethic debacle a few times also.....

I'm sure if you let CS know when it happened, they would have fixed it for you.....

he didn't realize it happened til the new grades came out trevor - c'mon - you think he couldn't have altered his practice settings on his own?

ETA: Or are you proposing that x days after the grade report came out and you practiced with the wrong guy that CS would go back in and rerun practice for you x times with the right settings? Coz if that's what you meant, you are dreaming...

i informed a kid of rs. i forgot to rs him. he was going to be a backup sf next year. he has low work ethic. he needed the extra year. i have no seniors. now, next year, i will have 11 rotation players, i won't be able ot get everyone their minutes, this kid will go from a marginal signing to a terrible one with no playing time, and will almost certainly have to get cut his sophomore or junior year. his line?

he's played 1 minute in 15 games, which precludes me from RS'ing him.

I was taking a slap at WIS actually because they circumvent their own rules for their "loyal" customers or those that just ***** enough/too much or use the "I've paid X amount of dollars here"...so if they can "undo" other things that can't be undone, then why not this?  If the hard rules/regulations aren't the "line" (which they've proven that it isn't), then what is?

I guess I wasn't aware of this practice. In that case, carry on...

After one of the updates, WIS changed the listing order on the recruiting page.  Thinking I was making 10 phone  calls, I made 10 home visits instead.

Incidently, I probably have spent more money on this game than any other coach. WIS didn't reverse my stupidity

I signed a non-qualifier one season and only had one open scholly the next season. I went in to set my new guys practice minutes and all was good. A few games into the season I noticed that my non-qualifier from last season wasn't improving at all. I still had all his minutes in SH. He will no doubt end up as the smartest non-qualifier i've ever seen.
