Do recruits drop down any faster if you put more money into them, or does it not matter and they come down whenever they feel like it?

I have the same question.  Anyone?

If they will consider you as a back up, you can pull them down with scouting trips. I usually do 10 with a scholarship offer. If the recruit does not consider me after the next cycle, I will usually do 2 at a time until he does consider me.

Does that work in D2 as well?

Yes, still works in D2 as long as you get the backup message to start with.

The difference between a "pulldown" and a "dropdown" is that a pulldown you go up a level and snatch the guy. A dropdown is a guy that is a level above you and hasn't had anyone interested in him at his current level, so he dropsdown on the first day of signings in order to get on someones team.

but be warned with pulldowns - if a DII or DI squad (depending on where you are) decides they want him all of a sudden you're kind of screwed out of the player and the cash.

had that happen to me a couple times, always have backups ready,

I'll add this and have been shot down many times. At D3 I always offer the 100 dollar schollie. If he keeps it on the table you will have a chance. If he declines your schollie you can move on. You have no chance with that one. If you do 10 Phone calls and you feel like your in it then you've spent 100. If he declines your schollie your done.
huh? All you need is 1 phone call to see if he can be pulled down or not. I don't understand the purpose of offering the scholly before he has been pulled down or dropped down.

Like i said i've been shot down with this theory before.

If you send a schollie offer and your turned down then you know for sure.

What do you mean you have been shutdown with this theory before? As in the recruit told you "stop calling me, slam!" but accepted your scholarship?

That's actually not true. I have players reject my initial scholarship and then accept a 2nd one.
