If things haven't changed, distance has no effect on the expenses a sim-coached team utilizes in landing recruits. But things may have changed, being at a lower-tier DI school myself, I tend to avoid battles with sim schools more often than not.
But just to put things into perspective, I'm a low-end DI school in a pretty terrible conference with one open scholarship, and I have around $20,000 to spend (which is minuscule compared to an elite conference school).
Not going to say it's impossible, but I certainly wouldn't battle for both players. Choose one if you really want to go into a battle... And just be weary, that winning won't necessarily be easy. Three seasons back I fought a D+ prestige sim-coached DI school (they may actually have been C- prestige at the time, I cannot say for certain) over a recruit (while I was a D- prestige DI school) and lost despite dropping around $11,000 on the kid.
