Champions tourney Topic

Not sure how the logistics of something like this would work, but it would be cool if the champions from the different worlds could be placed in a cross-world tourney somehow to battle for ultimate HD dominance...

yeah, I thought of that - I tried to work something out, but it was too much for me - I'm hoping someone smarter could figure out a way...

Great idea. They made it work for the baseball tournament of champions.

I think its fairly simple. You set up a bracket, every time a team wins a championship you place them in the next spot in the bracket. Once all 64 spots are filled you start the tournament. Sim baseball does something similar to this already. Obviously this would be champions over multiple seasons, but it would be the same general concept.

what about repeat champions? Theoretically possible to have a coach face himself then...

I can't picture a perfect answer to a champions tourney. If a repeat owner happens I think you let both teams in the tourney.

I would like to see it more often....perhaps 16 or 32 teams, rather than 64

I agree 64 is too many.  16 sounds about right.  Not that this affects me in any way....

this probably goes without saying but the champions tourney would have to proceed separately from other worlds. e.g. the tourney preserves the championship rosters beyond their graduation dates.

I like the 16 team idea. Been a few years but in the baseball tourney of champions, teams would wait quite a while before it filled. Was wildly popular even with the wait. If it is set up similar with a separate world for waiting teams..would the 2 a day leagues have a major advantage in filling spots.

In baseball if you happen to have 2 teams in and they end up against eachother then you play yourself. It doesnt happen too often. However about 5 months ago a guy had entered virtually the same team in several open worlds and won them all and ended up having like 5 teams in the same side of the bracket. Was quite funny.
