Regressing FT Grades??? Topic

I was under the impression that FT grades couldn't regress? I'm aware that not giving enough practice minutes can result in a player underperforming from the FT line, but not actually declining in letter grades.

This player has been a B- in FT since he was a freshman. The player has low potential for improvement in this area, but has received at least a minimum 8 practice minutes for this attribute over the past two season.

Has this happened to anyone else?

All the time, FT grades can regresses, I had always understood that 9 was the minimum to ensure he doesn't drop, but 8 usually works.  I may be incorrect on the number, but they can regress.

Thanks, much appreciated. Eight practice minutes has always been my lowest setting, so I'm glad to get this little nugget of info.

I think players differ - assuming the kid has NOT received the capped message 8 usually works, but 9 or even 11 can - i think - be needed for some guys.....

once capped, going with zero will not - or will only rarely - see a decline

Have you ever noticed any relative decline in performance after setting a player's FT practice minutes to zero, or do players continue to perform as expected for the most part? I want to say that I read somewhere (I think in a developer chat) that FT performance has to remain at some minimum for players to achieve their expected rate of success.

I've never gone zero but once I max a guy out I go to seven. I've never noticed a drop and they perform up to expectations.

I should have made this point more clearly in my initial post, but this actually just happened to one of my players. I knew he was very close to maxing out so I set his FT practice minutes to 8 (where I set all my players with capped FTs). After roughly two seasons of being set at 8 minutes, he regressed from a B- to C+ during the off-season. I knew that practice minutes affected all players' FT performance, even the capped players, but I wasn't aware that the grade could actually decline.

I guess you confused IQs (which can't regress) with FT grades because they are the only two types of letter graded abilities.

i've seen the grade decline, but when it comes to offseason drops there's nothing you can do to prevent it besides increasing the kid's work ethic
