How about my 9 seed with a 23-6 record and 23 rpi? Started out the season with 3 losses, then turned it around pretty well, going 2-2 against the rpi top 6, including a 7 point home win against a 1 seed and an 11 point win on the road against a 3 seed. I know our conference isn't that strong, but going 16-0 during the conference slate should still be worth something. I'm not saying I should have been an elite seed, but I still think 9 is a little low. I was fully expecting a 6.
I think you have a legitimate gripe about being underseeded. Obviously, you got dragged down in conf against those 1-26, 4-24 teams. I mean, comon, what's the difference between a 1-26 and a 10-17 team, or even a 13-14 simai team for that matter? All three will get obliterated by a quality human controlled team but the first one kills your sos and rpi, and really drags down your seeding.
I wouldn't have started a topic about it, but since we were talking about it, I thought I would throw it out there. About a week ago I thought the worst seed I would get was an 8, then I won out until the CT game against the 2nd most athletic team in D2. But like Butler and VCU have proven in real life, all that matters is being in and winning the games you play.
Personally, I don't see much of a difference in seeding when it's 4-12. You want to avoid the 13-16 seeds as you will most likely face one of the powerhouses (at 16, you 100% will face a powerhouse, and at 13, the 3 seed you face could be a great team who simply scheduled wrong). 1-3 seed can face simai teams, which are most likely free wins. 4-12 are teams which are pretty close to each other and the game will be competitive.

I calculated a 5.5 seed, so 6 is maybe slightly underseeded, fwiw

A 13 seed would play a 4 seed, not a 3.  Just saying.

@ OP, looks like you will have to pull a FAB 5 :)

Well I guess I proved that I was underseeded, beat the 8 by 10 and the #1 overall by 11.

actually i was wrong we both played exactly the same amount of teams that had an rpi 100 or under.  and i have a 67 sos.  but it is a tough draw u got

Tough draw I got? LMAO all you got is being in the number 1 conference in RPI. And you still didn't get decent numbers anyway.
Cant wait to see this beatdown coming.
