Very good chance my cousin is getting the job at Oklahoma.  Gregg Marshall.
That would be a good hire for Oklahoma.  Gregg Marshall was very impressive at Winthrop and is having a good season at Witchita St,too. They in the finals of the NIT.

any rumors about brad stephens?  indiana has the money to buy butler out, will have to be tempting I would think even if they sort of like crean????

Not saying that it cannot happen, but lots of schools can buyout his Butler contract.  I just do not see Crean moving on.  He finally has some in state talent coming to Bloomington.  I think he has two more years to prove his worth.  If the Hoosiers miss the dance after that I could see some cries for him to leave.  It does not help though to have a small school from Indy making multiple final fours while your team sits at the bottom of the Big 10.

For the past few years I could hardly watch the Hoosiers as it was like watching the JV vs. the varsity.

Crean (unfortunately for us, OR) has some ridiculous recruiting classes coming in, he's not going anywhere for the time being.

If Painter actually leaves for Mizzou, I wonder if Stephens might bolt for Purdue?

Of course, he does have that 12-year contract extension he signed after last seaosn's Final Four run ...

Kent Sterling wrote, "There isn’t a single school looking for a coach who wouldn’t crawl from their campus to Hinkle Fieldhouse over broken glass for a chance to hire 34 year-old Brad Stephens."

Sterling goes on to say that Stephens won't leave.  He's well-paid and Indy is his home town.  He quit a well-paying job at Eli Lilly to take an unpaid position at Butler.

A more interesting possibility is: Will Butler stay in the Horizon League?  I'd think the Atlantic-10 would love to have them. It'd give Xavier and Dayton another nearby rival and Indiana is a basketball hotbed.  And what conference wouldn' love to have all that tourney cash that Butler's hauling in???

Unreal if the Post Dispatch is right and Painter is headed to Missouri. Purdue should be ashamed of themselves.

bernie at the PD is reporting Painter to Mizzou. But rivals is saying no confirmation, expect an answer before the end of the day. As a MU fan, i love getting a huge coaching and recruiting upgrade over mike anderson for about the same cash.

Hard to believe but Butler, over the past two seasons, has been to as many Final Fours as Purdue has in 70+ years of the NCAA tourney.

I can't see Stevens leaving except for a very high-profile program. How long does Williams have left at UNC, or Calhoun at UConn, K. at Duke, Boeheim at Syrc.??

From the IndyStar, 1:45 p.m.

As of the noon deadline requested by Missouri, Matt Painter had not called either Mizzou or Purdue with a final decision, sources confirmed.

Purdue officials made an offer to Painter on Monday night and enhanced it Tuesday to include an increase in salary to the $2 million-a-year range and provide additional funds for staffing and day-to-day operations of the program.
Former Purdue coach Gene Keady, Painter's mentor, said salary wasn't the issue, but Painter wanted the overall support other programs received.
Keady said, “"It's about having the opportunity to win a national title with the backing of everyone. He wants to know if an assistant coach needs a car (for a recruiting trip), he can get it. If something needs to be done, they'll do it, so he doesn't have to worry about all the nickel-and-dime stuff.”
Painter, 40, has been pursued vigorously by Missouri, which was willing to increase his salary from an average of roughly $1.3 million to more than $2 million. Painter made $1.9 million this year with incentives.

Mike Hopkins is widely regarded as Jim Boeheim's successor at Syracuse. Andy Katz even reported in 2007 that Syracuse was all set to officially announce him as their coach-in-waiting, although that didn't happen (at least not publicly). Hopkins has rebuffed head-coaching interest from other D1 schools, most recently Charlotte last spring.

Nancy L Cross, associate A.D. at Purdue, sent a letter to members of their booster club. She insinuated, not too subtlely, that it's THEIR fault if they lose Matt Painter.

Personally, I have been overwhelmed with the number of e-mails pledging to join the John Purdue Club or increase support.  Ironically, I believe we would not be in this situation had more than 11% of our current membership participated in the Mackey Challenge and more than 150 of our nearly 9,000 members recruited at least one new member. More of the Big Ten television revenues could have been allocated for compensation for the basketball coaching staff members and less toward the critical path of updating Mackey Arena.

this is not a smart move. look at what happened to Uconn's football team.

Matt Painter and Purdue have reached agreement on a new 8-year contract, according to the University
