I'm already filling five slots next year, possibly even six.  I don't think I want to be trying to recruit seven next season.

I had Yanes and Schiller as my starting guards, but I was putting Yanes at PG because he had a higher passing rating.

What does it mean if the recruit summary shows a recruit as considering nobody but if you call up the recruit it shows me and another team?  Previously was 'us among others'

if you're talking about Farlow, then he's simply considering both of you and there's now  a recruiting battle for the kid.  If you send the player a scholarship offer, then you'll get updated information from the kid regarding if you're in the recruiting lead or the other school is.  And importantly, you'll get an updated scholarship email from him each time the recruiting lead changes from your school to the other school.  Sometimes these messages are clear cut (when you're clearly in the recruiting lead by sending more HV/CV/Evals/Calls, with the emphasis on HV and CVs), other times it's not as clear if the battle is close.

On the Recruiting Summary page, if a kid considers just you, it'll say "Considering Us", if it's you plus at least another school it'll say "Considering Us Among Others".

Welcome to HD....

But why would it no longer say so on the summary screen?  In other words, the recruit screen itself is more accurate?

I'm not sure I follow what you're saying.  On the player's page with the ratings, it'll show all the schools he's currently considering.  On the recruiting summary page, it'll say considering us/us among others/other schools.

At the time I asked, it was not showing it on the summary page, but it was showing it on the recruit 'close up'.  Its showing on both again now.

Is there any way to tell from the coach's call what range a recruits offensive or defensive IQ is in?

Looks like the team primarily plays runs a motion offense. Based on their sets, he seemed like he knew where to be while running motion, but there were a couple of times he was out of position.

Defensively, we primarily play fullcourt press. Relative to the other players I've coached, he is below average in the fullcourt press.

Are two examples.

(Just continuing to use this thread to avoid cluttering up the forum with new threads)

Presuming that practice minutes for a player are held constant in a category, are rating increases through the season fairly linear? i.e - if you get five points of increase through ten games, for example, would you expect something close to ten points through twenty games?

The general rule is that growth starts slow at the beginning (when the player hasn't grown yet), speeds up towards the middle, and slows down to a crawl near the end (when the player maxxes out in that particular rating).  So, when you are in the middle, the growth will appear to be linear.  If the player has a lot of potential and therefore has a long middle stretch of growth, then a linear estimate will be pretty accurate.  I hope you are able to follow what I am saying.

Great question and I do not have the answer.  But, I would just say that the range of possibility for incoming freshmen (with experience in the system) seems to go from C to D-.  I may be wrong, though, since I can't recall if I had a freshman with a C+ or not.  My best guess would be that the first message will yield a C- and the second will yield a D+.  I say that because I know there is at least one better message than the first one and there is at least one worse message than the second one.  So, that is my educated guess.

The biggest factors in player growth are the player's potential in the category and the amount of playing time (assuming you have put enough practice minutes to be positive).  The further away the player is from their potential, the faster the category will change (in both directions).  More playing time will result in larger improvements.

Forgot to mention as well, the rate of change slows down for attributes <10 and >90.

On the issue mentioned of scouting reports and IQ. . .I would presume that these two are both near the 'top' messages in that regard.

Looks like the team primarily plays runs a triangle offense. Seemed like there was another coach on the floor. He was directing teammates on where to go in the triangle. Haven't seen any kids know it that well.

Defensively, they played mostly a halfcourt press/zone. For someone his age, he has a great understanding of positioning in the zone. Based on what I could see, he has a great understanding of the press, as good as some collegiate upperclassmen.

First thing I would do is to cut owens. He looks like a walkon that got signed by the last coach.

Who the heck is Owens?
