Who would you start at SF? Topic

I'm trying to decide who to start at SF on my D2 Crum team.  We play Motion/FCP.  I don't particularly want to make a lineup change, but I'm curious which of these 2 guys you would start at SF.

Edward Fitzgerald

Fitzgerald is currently starting at SF and Clancy at PF.  I'm wondering if Clancy might make a better PF than Fitzgerald?  If I move Fitzgerald to the bench and Clancy to SF, then one of these two guys would start at PF or C:

Michael Crisp

So if I slide him over to SF from PF, who would you start at PF between McKenley and Crisp?

Depending on matchup, it's either fitzgerald of mckenley for me at PF. Crisp is not for the fcp.

I tend to agree on Crisp.  He is an offense only guy that I got stuck with on a team I took over (luckily he, McKenley and Fitzgerald are all about to graduate).  McKenley isn't much better but at least he can rebound.

McKenley should be better on offense than Crisp as well.

I find that comment interesting.  I'm still learning HD, so I will defer to your knowledge there, but I'm curious why you think that.  Crisp has higher ratings in SPD (32 vs. 14), LP (96 vs. 84), PER (40 vs. 13), BH (20 vs. 19) and PASS (47 vs. 13).  He is only lower in ATH (38 vs. 41), unless of course WE matters in offensive ability and I didn't realize it (50 vs. 73).  McKenley would get more putbacks too presumably due to his better REB rating (87 for him vs. 50 for Crisp), so maybe that is what you are looking at.

Sorry, I misread some of the stats of those 2 players. Crisp will be better than McKenley on offense, but neither players should be getting any real distro for a D2 program.

I agree with you mdh - in the set offense, anyway, Crips is stronger than McKenley.  In particular that passing means he can help other guys as well as scoring.  Doesn't justify the defense/reb, though...

Ok.  That's what I thought.  I've got distro for both set pretty low and they are both backups for right now.  I just can't decide if I want to move Clancy to SF and have Crisp or McKenley (probably McKenley) starting at PF.

I think for me the issue is who I would start at PF, and I am pretty sure that would be clancy - I think fitzgerald is ok at a low distro sf - his 3 press numbers add up to 147 plus he is a senior, plus he has 82 stamina, I think he is fine at SF, and Clancy is a top PF.

Many times I see coaches take a all conf level player at his best position, and turn him into an average player at his second or third best position - back in the 1990's, packer fans loved the term - out-holmgrenning oneself - I am pretty sure those in seattle and cleveland also know what that means - LOL

That was my initial inclination (thus my comment I wasn't particularly sure I wanted to make a change).  My team is 7-2 with an RPI of 24, so no real reason to mix it up unless we would be even better after a change.

i'm surprised none of you have come up with my answer to this quandary. sitemail sent! enjoy.
