B- Prestige at D1 Topic

With 6 openings, would I have a shot at a player ranked in the #6-#10 at their position (#40-50 overall)?

As a C+ last year I was able to get the #9 PG (I believe number 43 overall), but he was within 50 miles.

If I were you, I would put $8-10k in effort in him during the first cycle and see who else might be going after him.  You can evaluate the situation then.  If you decide to go after him, you will have a better idea of the landscape at that point.  If a big shot is onto him, then you can get out with minimal impact to your overall recruiting budget

I got the number 2 overall with B-.

Hope that helps.

Depends on his futurestars, too. If he's going to be a 90+ player in all the cores, I'd say a big 6 will make you spend almost all your money to keep him. Another factor is the location of the recruit. Check to see approximately how many big 6 schools are in his 360 mile radius. If you're in the northeast, you can basically forget it. If you're in a more desolate location, it's definitely more attainable then.

Depends on his FSS, and depends on, well, luck. You might have two very comparable players, and one becomes the subject of a very expensive battle, and the other gets signed with no battle at all.

Also depends on other factors, like if you're in additional battles that might attract attention from rivals, etc.

Yep, which always makes me laugh when D1 big 6 coaches attempt to get on all of their kids right away and then get ****** off when people battle for them. You have to protect your assets when recruiting, particularly at D1. If I have a 4 scholarship year, I'm only going after my 2 top targets for at least the first day and a half of recruiting.

Really depends on the schools in your area. If you are near a few A- and better schools odds are you won't be able to but I'd wait until after the 1st cycle to see who is on him and then decide if I can beat out whoever is on him.

Short answer: Yes.

Long answer: Depends.  Can you offer a start?  Good minutes?  Are bigger name schools nearby?  Can THEY offer starts/minutes?  What's your conference prestige? If good, that's a big plus... if bad, well, that's bad.

Shake out all those answers and you should have your marching orders.  If most of those answers are favorable, then yes, with the right recruiting approach and $ you can get that guy.

How many schools in ur general area with higher prestige or more money are gonna be in need of that player. Supply and demand.

Starts/minutes are a very minor factor.

I've got 4 star players like that  before at a B- perstige, but this year in Rupp, I couldn't get anyone higher than a 3 star to give me anything better than a backup option message on my first effort . I've also read on other CCs that decent (C range) prestige schools were having a hard time getting 2 and 3 stars to return their calls. Maybe its just me or maybe  the recruits are becoming really tightassed.
