FYI - Customer Support indicated that this was pretty much (exclusively?) due to my longevity at D3.
I disagree that I should be able to get these jobs but it isn't like this is the fast path to D1.
I'm late to this thread obviously, but I was going to point out that I felt really confident your D1 qualifications were due almost entirely to your longevity and # of wins. I've seen numerous examples of coaches with 400, 500, 600 wins get eligible for a good D1 job (from D2) -- like a Big 6 job -- even with mediocre success. Obviously here jumping from D3 to D1 is a bit different, but just the fact you can do it w/o a really strong recent run is proof it's still possible as long as you basically have longevity. It seems like a way for WIS to throw a bone to long-time coaches imo. I'm not really opposed to it either, though if I was a D2 coach with a better resume and lost out to a D3 coach moving up I probably wouldn't be too happy, but in the grand scheme of things, I get it.
CS basically confirmed it for everyone.
Edit: I wasn't trying to poo-poo the most recent 4 years that ku had at Thomas b/c it's pretty solid, but that Title game appearance is 4 seasons ago and the FF appearance 2 yrs removed. Nobody would have a problem with this same resume on a D2 squad being good enough to jump to a Big 6 doormat school I'm sure, but there are no ultra-recent titles or title game appearances or anything, that's all I was trying to get at for this D3 squad. At some point in the HD algorithm, reaching ~400-600 wins seems to carry a lot more weight than only having 200 wins, all other factors being equal.
