Player Thoughts Email Topic

I had a question about the post exhibition games "Player Thoughts" email.

It has two options. "limited upside" and "Big Upside".

I was wondering about unmentioned categories.

Big upside makes sense, but wat is the difference between an unmentioned category and limited upside?

Does limited mean that they will improve a little bit but not a lot, or does limited mean more like, not at all?

If a rating category is not mentioned at all, does that mean little improvement? Or not at all?

Any insight should help with my pratice minutes prioritizing.

Thanks!

I'm not sure if this is the exact scale, but this is the general idea

Limited Growth = (0-7 points growth)
No mention = average growth (7-20 points growth)
Big upside (21 + points growth)

So basically, focus practice minutes on the areas w/ big upside, and secondarily the areas with average growth (those that are not mentioned)

Now, a caveat.....also think about the player's position, and where they are starting from. For instance, If you have a Center with a 1 in PER but with high growth, it might not be best to focus heavily on PER practice minutes, because LP, REB, SB, and ATH might be more important for that player.

supposedly they've done away with high POT, low (<10) players, but it was a recent enough change that I'm not 100%.

interesting.
  • Added a fix so that recruits won't be generated with very low start rating and average/high potential
i remember hearing about that but i thought it was just a change to reduce the likelihood. i wish i had saved some players so i could see if i had any!

I save all my recruit potentials, and over the past few seasons I've seen guys start with 10 and have high potential, but nothing below that

Thanks guys, this was all very helpful.

Just a couple of small corrections, high in the player thoughts email actually starts at 18, I've had a couple of players begin a season with 82 in a rating and still be high potential but I've never seen an 83 be high potential. Average starts at 5, this season I had a guy start with 95 in per and was average in the player thoughts email.

very important to plan along these lines - but also important to keep your eye on the role your player has.  For example, say you have a big man with high potential in BH.  Thats nice and increasing BH wont hurt.....but if he has great REB but weak STAM and you dont have enough bigs - you might spend practice on conditiioning for him even if his potential there is only average.  10 points of STAM for him might help your team more than 20 points of BH

Wow.....looks like you are right, I wasn't quite sure that they went through with that.

Still - the point remains - if faced with a choice, grow the more important core rating first. A PG can get by with a 15 in reb or LP, but not a 45 in PAS for instance.
